Leidos Enhances Technology Integration with U.S. Army's Reveille Forge

Leidos, a renowned leader in defense technology, is actively participating in the U.S. Army's Reveille Forge initiative, which aims to improve technology integration within military systems. This effort is part of a new approach the Army is adopting to tackle the challenges related to system interoperability and enhance the overall capabilities of military operations.

Understanding Reveille Forge

Reveille Forge serves as an enduring integration and testing environment for the Army. Unlike previous, more sporadic integration events, this initiative is designed to create a perpetual environment for collaboration among government, industry, and academia. The goal is to identify interoperability challenges early in the development process, long before new technologies are deployed in the field.

Following the Army's Operation Jailbreak exercise, where various technologies were rigorously tested, Reveille Forge will help refine and expand upon those findings. As Matt Becker, the Vice President of Defense Sensors at Leidos, stated, "Operation Jailbreak showed how open architectures can help turn integration from a barrier into an advantage." This initiative not only highlights the importance of early testing but also emphasizes the transition from traditional, fixed testing periods to a more flexible, ongoing integration culture.

Benefits of Open Architectures

One of the principal focuses of Reveille Forge is to support the Army's Modular Open Systems Approach. This methodology utilizes open interfaces to seamlessly connect various sensors, weapons, and software from multiple vendors. By adopting this approach, the Army can quickly adapt to changing mission requirements, ensuring that technological developments keep pace with the evolving landscape of military operations.

Leidos' participation will specifically concentrate on advancing open architectures. This focus is expected to enhance interoperability and accelerate the development of integrated capabilities for future testing and operational use. By actively engaging in Reveille Forge, Leidos is positioning itself as a key player in the advancement of military technology solutions.

Ongoing Contributions

Leidos recently concluded important sessions during Operation Jailbreak at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. This event, called Jailbreak Sprint 1.5, followed the initial efforts at Fort Carson, Colorado. During these sprints, Leidos was involved in demonstrating capabilities, verifying interoperability with approved Army systems, and addressing cybersecurity concerns. The capabilities tested during these events included:

  • - IFPC Inc 2: A mobile, ground-based weapon system adept at countering aerial threats, including drones and cruise missile threats.
  • - ALPS: The Army Long-Range Persistent Surveillance system, which uses passive detection technologies to identify aerial dangers without disclosing its location.
  • - MXR: An AI-driven radar system designed to detect, track, and identify small unmanned aerial systems, particularly in challenging environments.

The Road Ahead

Looking forward, Leidos aims to extend its innovative efforts through Reveille Forge. With a firm commitment to improving system integration and technology testing, the company is poised to make significant contributions toward the Army's mission effectiveness. This initiative aligns with Leidos' broader growth strategy, termed NorthStar 2030, emphasizing the integration of advanced defense technology to meet complex challenges faced by governmental and commercial sectors alike.

As the landscape of military technology continuously evolves, participation in initiatives such as Reveille Forge represents Leidos' dedication to ensuring that the U.S. Army is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. With a focus on collaboration and integration, Leidos is committed to driving advancements that will have a lasting impact on defense capabilities.
