Ken Johnson Takes the Helm as New CEO of Bluepeak Fiber Internet Provider
Bluepeak Announces Ken Johnson as New CEO
Bluepeak, a leading player in the fiber internet industry, has officially named Ken Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer. Johnson will take charge starting October 19, 2026, succeeding Rich Fish, who has been instrumental in the company's growth over the past six years. Under Fish's leadership, Bluepeak expanded into a multi-state fiber internet provider, making significant strides in improving connectivity across the regions it serves.
Ken Johnson comes to Bluepeak with a wealth of experience in the telecommunications sector, bringing over 30 years of expertise. His recent position as Chief Operating Officer at Cable One, Inc. saw him manage a wide array of services, including both residential and business operations. He played a critical role in overseeing technology and field operations for a sprawling customer base of over one million across 24 states. Johnson's career took off after Cable One's acquisition of NewWave Communications, where he also served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer.
Rich Fish has announced his retirement, transitioning to an advisory role in the company. In his tenure as CEO, he led Bluepeak through a period of rapid expansion into new markets such as North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Texas. Under Fish’s guidance, the company enhanced its service offerings to include top speeds of 5 Gig for residential customers and 10 Gig and beyond for business clients.
In an official statement, Johnson expressed his excitement for the new role, stating, "Bluepeak has built a strong foundation and a clear reputation for delivering fast, reliable fiber internet with a local, customer-first approach. I am honored to lead this team into its next chapter." He emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the momentum generated by his predecessor.
Mark Prybutok, Managing Director at GI Partners, the firm that owns Bluepeak, praised Johnson's extensive operational background and his proven success in scaling broadband businesses. Prybutok noted, “Ken's deep operational expertise and his track record of scaling broadband businesses make him the right leader for Bluepeak's next phase of growth.” His skills and experience in network revitalization align perfectly with the company's vision and mission.
With Bluepeak's commitment to improving internet connectivity in underserved areas, Johnson's appointment marks a pivotal moment in the company’s strategy. "We look forward to completing the fiber transformation of Bluepeak communities and expanding access to best-in-class connectivity across the regions we serve," he added.
