AEON's Exciting 2025 Tanabata Challenge
AEON, a leading English language school based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is launching an engaging initiative for its students called "Wish Upon a Star for 2025!" The project encourages students from AEON and AEON Kids to express their goals for the year in one English sentence. This campaign will run from June 1 to June 30, 2025, in honor of Tanabata, a traditional Japanese festival celebrating the meeting of two stars.
The Contest Details
During the month-long event, participants can submit English sentences detailing what they hope to achieve in 2025. An exciting reward awaits the best submissions, where both adult and kids' divisions will have a grand prize winner, each receiving a gift card worth 2,000 yen. There will also be a runner-up prize of 1,000 yen for each division and a lottery for 50 additional participants who will win 500 yen Starbucks gift cards. The winners will be announced on July 7, Tanabata Day, making it a celebratory occasion for all.
This contest follows a successful campaign held in December, where AEON collected 477 entries from students describing their aspirational English words for 2024. Inspired by that overwhelming participation, AEON has designed this new activity to further boost its students' motivation and English language skills.
Celebrating English Learning
At AEON, the goal is not merely to speak English but to enhance communication skills and facilitate engagement with diverse cultures and individuals. This Tanabata initiative aligns perfectly with AEON's philosophy. It aims to promote language learning in a fun, engaging manner while supporting students in setting personal achievements for the coming year.
Each entry provides a unique glimpse into the aspirations of AEON's learners, from improving their TOEIC test scores to participating in the school’s Speech Showcase or overcoming personal challenges.
Examples of Participant Ideas
Some illustrative sentences from participants could include:
1. "I will work hard to improve my TOEIC® L&R test score by 100 points."
2. "I am planning to participate in AEON’s Speech Showcase."
3. "I am resolved to get rid of my bad habit of late-night snacking."
These examples demonstrate the excitement and personal commitment that AEON students are encouraged to express through their submissions.
How to Participate
To enter the contest, students must create their sentences and submit them during the designated contest dates, June 1-30, 2025. The winners will be announced via AEON's official LINE account, ensuring a modern approach to sharing news with participants.
