An Inspiring Exhibition: The Legacy of Robert Heindel
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of Robert Heindel, a celebrated American artist who dedicated his life to capturing the beauty of dance. Heindel once said, "The sight of a perfectly sculpted body tirelessly striving for excellence embodies the highest aesthetic realm that humanity can aspire to." For him, dancers were not just performers; they were the pinnacle of artistic beauty.
To commemorate this significant milestone, a remarkable exhibition will take place, featuring approximately 20 original works and prints, including newly released pieces such as "Red Bar", "In The Wing", and "White Skirt VI". Each piece reflects Heindel's deep admiration for dancers and the beauty found in their commitment to the craft.

A Brief History of Robert Heindel
Heindel was born in 1938 and passed away in 2005. He emerged as a prolific artist after making his debut on the cover of TIME magazine at the age of 29 in 1968. His artistic journey took him from advertising to becoming a prominent figure in the fine arts, receiving the coveted Hamilton King Award in 1979.
In the 1980s, Heindel found his calling as a painter of ballet, traveling to leading ballet companies across the United States, the UK, the Netherlands, and Japan, capturing the essence of rehearsals before performances. His remarkable body of work earned him accolades, and he was famously referred to as the contemporary Degas by the prestigious art magazine, Gallery International.
His art has been collected by esteemed individuals, including the late Princess Diana, Princess Caroline of Monaco, and well-known figures like Clint Eastwood and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. In 1985, his exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall in London was graced by both Princess Diana and Princess Margaret, attracting over 300,000 visitors during its six-week duration.
Heindel's connection to Japan dates back to 1992, and he continued to exhibit regularly there every two years, culminating in a landmark exhibition at Sakata City Museum of Art in 2003. His legacy continues to thrive in popular media, being featured in programs like NHK's "Mystery Art Museum" and "Sunday Art Museum."
