Avient Corporation Welcomes David N. Schneider

Avient Corporation, a well-respected innovator in material solutions, has made a significant leadership change with the appointment of David N. Schneider as the new President for its Specialty Engineered Materials business segment. This transition is crucial as Schneider takes over from Christopher L. Pederson, who retired in June 2025 after seven years of dedicated service in the role.

Mr. Schneider brings to Avient an impressive background, having over three decades of experience in various specialty materials sectors through his tenure at 3M. His extensive career includes high-profile roles such as Global Business Vice President for the Electronics Materials Solutions Division, where he successfully drove growth and performance across a complex global portfolio. His career journey at 3M began in process engineering and manufacturing, eventually leading him to roles in product management and business development.

What sets Schneider apart is his robust experience in handling mergers and acquisitions, where he played pivotal roles in integration processes, synergy captures, and enhancing overall value creation for the business units he managed. His technical expertise is complemented by his academic background; Schneider holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University and is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

In a statement about the transition, Dr. Ashish Khandpur, the Chairman, President, and CEO of Avient Corporation, emphasized Schneider’s customer-centric approach and innovation-driven focus. He expressed confidence in Schneider’s ability to build high-performing teams and nurture customer partnerships across diverse industries. Dr. Khandpur believes that under Schneider's leadership, the Specialty Engineered Materials business can expect to unlock significant growth opportunities both in their existing core offerings and new product developments.

Expressing his excitement about joining Avient, Schneider acknowledged the company's collaborative culture and the team's unwavering dedication to customer service and the implementation of differentiated technologies. He expressed his belief in Avient's strategic direction and was optimistic about the promising growth and value creation potential ahead.
