HCLSoftware to Acquire Wobby
HCLSoftware, a division of HCLTech, has recently revealed its ambitions to acquire Wobby, a pioneering startup specializing in AI Data Analyst agents located in Antwerp, Belgium. This strategic acquisition is part of HCLSoftware's efforts to enhance its portfolio in the AI and analytics domain.
Over the past five years, HCLSoftware's Data AI division, known as Actian, has experienced notable growth driven by a surge in demand for metadata management, data cataloging, and data governance solutions. This acquisition is expected to strengthen the capabilities of Actian's offerings, enabling customers to glean actionable insights from their raw data quickly and efficiently.
Wobby is renowned for its AI-driven Data Analyst agents that facilitate complex dataset queries through a natural language interface, thereby providing users with immediate, actionable insights. Its innovative solutions leverage a proprietary semantic layer and agentic architecture capable of interpreting business contexts, automating intricate workflows, and delivering high-standard analytical outputs at scale, complementing Actian's data intelligence platform.
Marc Potter, the CEO and Portfolio General Manager of HCLSoftware's Data AI division, emphasized the necessity of self-service analytics for customers. He remarked, "Customers are looking for self-service analytics that yield trustworthy insights. With Wobby on board, Actian can offer LLM-powered natural-language analytics on a unified semantic layer, enhancing self-service capabilities while ensuring accuracy and context-rich insights. This lays the groundwork for scaling GenAI initiatives with trust."
Furthermore, Wobby’s co-founder and CEO, Amra Dorjbayar, stated that the company is reshaping business intelligence by creating AI agents capable of responding to queries and evolving towards proactive analytics by delivering automated insights. He noted that merging Wobby's offerings with Actian's Data Intelligence platform will provide a distinctive approach to data management for clients.
The transaction is anticipated to close by February 2026. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in HCLSoftware's expansion strategy to bolster its AI capabilities and promote data-driven decision making among its clients.
