Kwanza Jones Launches Culture In Motion™ in Southeast to Honor Rich Cultural Heritage
Kwanza Jones, a renowned cultural architect and platform builder, has officially introduced her national touring arts initiative,
Culture In Motion™, in the Southeast region of the United States. Following successful activations in key cities such as California, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Dallas, the program now aims to pay tribute to the deep cultural legacy that underscores the African American community through art, education, and leadership.
Culture In Motion™ is designed to empower communities by extending access to arts while reinforcing connections through shared cultural experiences. As the initiative makes its way through the Southeast, it spotlights notable cities rich in history and creativity, giving a voice to the stories that continuously shape the American cultural landscape.
Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the latest hosts of the tour. Jones emphasizes, "The Southeast has long utilized culture, education, and creativity as tools for connection and empowerment. Culture In Motion perpetuates that tradition by bringing communities together, enhancing visibility, participation, and access through various activations."
One of the unique features of Culture In Motion™ is the
SUPERCHARGED® Boost Bus™, a mobile cultural hub designed to deliver storytelling, music, and empowerment directly to neighborhoods and communities. This bus is not just a vehicle; it represents a dynamic platform that engages local residents with the rich heritage of their areas. Planned stops include historic sites and cultural landmarks in cities like Durham, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Charleston.
The initiative also collaborates closely with historically significant cultural institutions and HBCU spaces, thus amplifying the creative and educational presence in the community. Throughout its journey, Culture In Motion honors the Southeast's enduring cultural legacy, intertwining historical narratives with modern expressions of art and creativity.
Notable cultural hubs like Durham have served as important centers for black initiatives and artistic expressions, while Greensboro's history in activism and educational fervor has made it a key player in shaping community conversations. Charlotte represents a burgeoning center of creativity, and Charleston showcases the rich artistic heritage of the Gullah Geechee community. Together, these cities form an impactful testament to the ongoing mission of Culture In Motion to celebrate culture as a living, breathing entity that connects and evolves.
Kwanza Jones, as the founder and executive producer, aims to leverage the initiatives to bridge cultural divides and inspire new levels of engagement. By prioritizing local stories and creating interactive platforms, Culture In Motion plays a crucial role in enhancing community ties and fostering a deeper understanding of cultural contributions.
As the initiative expands nationally, the Southeast signifies a pivotal chapter in Jones's vision to move culture intentionally, connect communities, and enhance access to the arts, empowerment, and shared cultural experiences across the country. Supported by the Kwanza Jones Initiative José E. Feliciano, the program aims to create lasting cultural platforms focused on access, scale, and community impact.
