Leila Spann Recognized with NAWBO-Indianapolis Emerging Entrepreneur Award for Her Impactful Leadership

Leila Spann's Inspirational Journey

Leila Spann, the visionary founder and CEO of enbloom Marketing, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 NAWBO-Indianapolis Emerging Entrepreneur Award. This accolade shines a spotlight on women-led businesses that have not only thrived in their early years but have also made significant contributions to their communities.

Hailing from New York and embracing her Puerto Rican roots, Spann launched enbloom Marketing two years ago, during a challenging personal time as she navigated postpartum depression while preparing for her daughter's arrival. The business, which focuses on brand strategy and storytelling, quickly became a means of reinvention for Spann, who described it as "a company that brought me back to life."

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Spann shared her initial trepidation about moving to Indianapolis for graduate studies. However, she expressed a deep appreciation for the city's supportive environment, highlighting the importance of mentorship and community collaboration. "This city surprised me. I came to Indianapolis reluctantly, but I stayed because of the way this city shows up for people," she reflected.

The award was presented at the annual State of NAWBO-Indianapolis event, where Spann also played a key role in the launch of the Boss Ladies edition of NAWBO Magazine. Under the leadership of Dr. Jamyce Curtis Banks and her team, this special issue has achieved an impressive milestone, with over 4.2 million views and raising $10,000 for the Indianapolis Foundation in just four months. Spann passionately described the magazine as "a living archive" that celebrates women's stories and contributions, ensuring their voices resonate for generations to come.

Expressing her gratitude towards the leadership of NAWBO Indianapolis, Spann acknowledged the contributions of outgoing president Dr. Jamyce Curtis Banks and incoming president Christy Gomal, noting their unwavering vision and energy. She also emphasized the power of the evening's keynote speaker, Dr. Bille Dragoo, whose insights on resilience in entrepreneurship resonated deeply with her audience.

In her powerful words, Spann stated, "As a mother raising a daughter in Indiana, I am acutely aware of the urgency of this moment. We are witnessing women achieve great things in sports and business, yet we still face policies that constrain our rights and choices." For Spann, NAWBO represents a haven where change is fostered, policies are shaped, and pathways for future generations are paved.

Spann's trailblazing leadership has not gone unnoticed, as indicated by accolades such as the 2022 Indianapolis Business Journal Tech 25 Award and the 2024 Indiana Latino Female-Owned Business of the Year. Her commitment to community engagement is further highlighted by winning the 2025 Small Business Impact Award from the Indy Chamber's Hispanic Business Council.

The growth of enbloom Marketing under Spann's leadership signifies a forward-thinking approach to brand building, infused with strategic and people-centric philosophies. As the company continues to thrive, Spann's mission is clear: to abolish reactive marketing and cultivate intentional brand strategies that empower women and girls through leadership and impactful storytelling.
