In a groundbreaking initiative, the innovative bookstore Bunkitsu Roppongi is joining forces with BS Asahi for a special collaboration titled "Pass the Baton: Initiatives in SDGs". This fascinating project is set to launch on June 18, 2025, and will continue until July 23, 2025. It promises to bring a spotlight on individuals and organizations that are committed to addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through various social activities.

Bunkitsu, operated by Hiraku Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Nippon Publishing Sales), is renowned for its unique concept of a bookstore that invites people to enjoy and immerse themselves in cultural experiences, offering both an entrance fee and a rich selection of books. The collaboration with BS Asahi, well-known for its informative program "Pass the Baton: Initiatives in SDGs" that has aired weekly since April 2020, aims to deepen public awareness about the challenges we face in society and the inspiring efforts made by those striving to create positive change.

This special section will showcase the works of around ten featured authors from the show's lineup of over 300 creators. By reflecting on past broadcasts, visitors will have the chance to explore a multitude of social issues and learn about the proactive solutions being implemented by various individuals and groups working towards sustainable development.

Additionally, a compelling talk event and book selection workshop are scheduled for July 2, 2025. The special guests are noted fermentation designer Hiraku Ogura and renowned editor Kazumasa Shide, who will engage in a stimulating dialogue centered on themes of fermentation and maturation. Attendees can look forward to discussions about hidden local flavors and the captivating personalities who contribute to enriching their communities.

What is Bunkitsu?



Bunkitsu has redefined the concept of a bookstore, combining a cultural experience with a cozy environment where one can engage with a diverse range of literature. The first branch opened in Roppongi in 2018, and they now are expanding with locations in Fukuoka and Nagoya set for future openings. By September 12, 2025, Bunkitsu will launch its largest flagship store yet, Bunkitsu Tokyo, spanning over 1,000 tsubo.
