Kid Spark Education and Bridgestone Expand Their Partnership for Free STEM Programs in U.S. Schools
In a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities, Kid Spark Education and Bridgestone Americas have announced the expansion of their partnership, aiming to implement six cost-free STEM and literacy programs for elementary schools across the United States in the 2026–2027 school year. This initiative marks a continued commitment by both organizations to foster education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and literacy among young learners in underserved communities.
The programs focusing on STEM and literacy will equip schools with comprehensive resources, which include hands-on engineering activities, robotics materials, and a carefully curated library of storybooks that align with literacy-driven lessons. The curriculum is tailored to meet educational standards while ensuring engaging and interactive learning experiences for students from Pre-K to 5th grade. Such an integrated approach aims to boost critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and foundational knowledge in students.
Ryan Neden, Executive Director of Kid Spark Education, emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for young learners to build a solid foundation in STEM and literacy. Neden stated, "We believe all young learners deserve opportunities to develop strong foundations in STEM and literacy from the earliest grades. Through this partnership, Bridgestone is helping more schools provide hands-on learning experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills in young learners."
The proposed programs are set to benefit over 2,400 students each year, allowing these young learners to engage in exciting educational experiences that extend beyond traditional learning environments. The components of the program, designed for long-term sustainability, will ensure that schools have the necessary tools to provide continuous access to hands-on learning opportunities.
Building on their earlier collaboration that began in 2023, Kid Spark Education and Bridgestone Americas have already adapted programs in several states, including Florida, Indiana, Michigan, and Tennessee. The ongoing efforts have helped educators enhance their teaching methodologies while introducing innovative steps to engage students.
Wade Munday, Director of Corporate Philanthropy and Social Impact at Bridgestone, remarked on this expanded initiative, stating, "As part of our commitment to creating a more equitable and sustainable society, Bridgestone is proud to expand our support of Kid Spark Education. Together, we're not just delivering STEM kits; we're investing in the next generation of innovators. By making these programs cost-free, we're ensuring students in underserved communities have access to hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity and help build a foundation for future success."
Eligible schools located within Bridgestone's service communities will be invited to apply for these programs through an open application process. Detailed information regarding the application process is available on the Kid Spark Education website.
