First Mining Gold Corp. Reports Promising Drilling Results at Duparquet Project's Miroir Target
First Mining Gold Corp. Reports Initial Drilling Results at Miroir Target
Vancouver, BC - First Mining Gold Corp. has announced new drilling results from its ongoing exploration program at the Duparquet Gold Project, which is situated in the Abitibi region of Quebec. The initial results from the 2026 drilling campaign have shown promising indicators of gold mineralization, particularly from the Miroir target, a high-priority zone first identified in 2024.
The company commenced its drilling efforts in May 2026 with an ambitious target of 15,000 meters of drilling aimed at exploring and enhancing resource potential within the project. The recent highlights include drill hole DUP26-093, which achieved an impressive 5.26 g/t Au over 19.55 meters, breaking down further into segments of 7.58 g/t Au over 12.95 meters and 21.80 g/t Au over 1.0 meter. Other noteworthy results include DUP26-096, which returned 3.43 g/t Au over 28.0 meters;
additional significant intercepts are yielding robust gold values as well.
This continuous success follows last year's drilling, which identified and expanded mineralization at the Miroir target, allowing for the evaluation of surrounding cadencies of mineral enrichments. Drilling results from recent months have confirmed the extension of mineralization with a new strike length approaching 220 meters while pushing down vertical explorations further east and west.
Dan Wilton, the CEO of First Mining, expressed excitement regarding the developments, stating, “The results from Miroir are not only highlighting high-grade intercepts but also showcasing the potential of this area to significantly contribute to our resource base. We’re keen on exploring further to fully understand its scope for growth.”
In the 2025 drilling campaign, the exploration crew extended the drilling depth to 250 meters, identifying multiple near-surface gold zones. The combination of these recent results reflects a broader understanding of the mineralized characteristics along this eastern mineralization trend. The Miroir target itself has become a focal point, where the convergence of fracture zones of gold enrichments can indicate broader economic feasibility for gold mining development
Current Drilling Campaign Goals:
While the initial results have been promising, First Mining is carefully planning subsequent drills and further initiatives that will incorporate an updated resource model for the Duparquet Project, utilizing findings accumulated since the last evaluation made in September 2022. This resource estimation comes on the back of over 48,000 meters of drilling conducted at established resource regions and emerging exploration sites across the project.
As First Mining continues its quest for gold discovery, the promise of battery-quality material from the Miroir makes it an appealing potential target area ripe for future exploration. The ongoing drilling campaign is set to unfold throughout the last quarter of 2026. Will First Mining be able to maintain such successful results? High-grade areas like Miroir are likely to attract the attention of stakeholders eagerly watching the unfolding narratives of gold discovery.
About the Duparquet Gold Project
Located approximately 50 km northwest of Rouyn-Noranda, the Duparquet Gold Project is steeped in historical exploration, enveloping an area rich in geological activity. This project covers about 5,800 hectares along the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone, known for its prolific mineral deposits. Current assessments show that it holds an NI 43-101 compliant resource of 3.44 million ounces in both the Measured and Indicated categories, coupled with 2.64 million ounces in the Inferred category.
The project not only benefits from existing infrastructure, including easy access roads and electricity but also provides an experienced workforce and labor market supported by a thriving local mining community.
As First Mining advances its drilling efforts, the calls for mining development and expanded exploration remain optimistic, suggesting a bright future for both the company and potential investors alike. Further updates are expected as results from ongoing drilling efforts surface, with the anticipation of even more gold discoveries potentially enriching First Mining’s portfolio.
