Experience Authentic Fukui Cuisine and Sake at Nakameguro's Echizen Fukui Fair 2025 Summer

Dive into Fukui's Culinary Delights at the Echizen Fukui Fair 2025 Summer

The Echizen Fukui Fair 2025 Summer is set to take place at Nakameguro Torimachi, in Tokyo's Meguro ward, from July 22 to August 17, 2025. This exciting event, organized in collaboration with LDH Japan and the city of Fukui, showcases the best summer ingredients from the Fukui Reihoku region and offers attendees a unique opportunity to savor the area's cultural delicacies.

During this fair, visitors will enjoy specially crafted dishes made with fresh seasonal produce. Some of the standout items on the menu include crispy chicken skin paired with cream cheese and peppers, a stir-fry featuring goya and traditional tofu, and a mouth-watering pizza topped with teriyaki mayo corn and local miso from Hamana. For a heartier option, try the chicken tempura soba noodle dish or the charcoal-grilled rice with chicken and fresh corn—an experience guaranteed to delight.

Accompanying these culinary treasures are exclusive sake selections available only at the fair. Notably, the celebrated Kurodrink Sake Brewery will provide the highly sought-after “Eshikoto” series, which can only be purchased at the ESHIKOTO store. In addition, a variety of other summer sake from various Fukui breweries will be available, including:
  • - ESHIKOTO Saka Honmari Special Junmai
  • - ESHIKOTO Gohyakumangoku Special Junmai
  • - Tajima Sake Brewery’s Fukuchitose THE BREW SAKE (14%)
  • - Ito Sake Brewery’s Koshinotaka Summer Junmai Ginjo BLUE HAWK

Special Promotions and Events

During the fair, visitors can also pick up the August edition of the Fukui Prefectural Public Relations magazine, featuring an exclusive interview with Kenchi Tachibana, the Food PR Ambassador for Fukui City and a member of the popular band EXILE and EXILE THE SECOND. Kenchi has played an instrumental role in promoting Fukui's culinary culture through his collaboration on various projects, including overseeing menu items that highlight local ingredients at restaurants managed by LDH Japan.

The initiative to appoint Kenchi as the ambassador was part of a strategic move by Fukui City to leverage local agricultural and fishery products for effective promotion both domestically and internationally. Since this appointment, Kenchi has actively participated in various media projects to elevate the profile of Fukui's food.

More Than Just Food

In addition to the culinary celebrations, Fukui City and LDH Japan signed a regional revitalization partnership agreement on March 6, 2023, aimed at fostering collaboration across various sectors, including commerce, tourism, culture, and education. Previous initiatives have included festivals, collaborative events, and promotional videos, all targeted at enhancing the appeal of Fukui City and its rich offerings.

To showcase more of what Fukui has to offer, the city’s official YouTube channel features PR videos hosted by Kenchi Tachibana, including “FUKUI Style Gourmet Cuisine and Sake” and “FUKUI Style Scenic Beauty.” These videos highlight not only the local cuisine, like the famous Echizen crab and Echizen oroshi soba, but also the breathtaking tourist spots and natural beauty that Fukui is renowned for.
