COMMON BEAT FES to Kick Off in Fukuoka in December 2025

COMMON BEAT FES 2025: An Expression Celebration in Fukuoka

In an exciting initiative led by the NPO Common Beat, Fukuoka will host its first-ever COMMON BEAT FES on December 27 and 28, 2025. This festival brings together community members of all ages, aiming to provide a space not just to observe but to engage in artistic expression. The festivities will take place at the Fukuoka Civic Hall and Susaki Park and will coincide with the musical performance of "A COMMON BEAT"'s 66th edition in Kyushu.

A New Way to Connect Through Expression

COMMON BEAT FES promotes a unique approach to engagement, transitioning from merely watching performances to actively participating in them. This year marks the launch of a new type of community festival aimed at connecting local individuals, businesses, and organizations through various expression-based workshops, booths, and activities.

The objective is clear: to create opportunities for expression that connect children, young people, local organizations, businesses, and educational entities. Nashville and Tokyo will also host this festival concurrently as part of a nationwide drive to foster creativity and community ties.

The Theme of Fukuoka: "Adults and Children Connecting through Expression"

At the heart of Fukuoka's COMMON BEAT FES lies a theme focused on fostering new experiences. The idea is for participants not only to witness various forms of expression but also to dive into them, encouraging everyone to step beyond their comfort zones. The aim is to create an environment that nurtures creativity while allowing all participants to learn, express themselves freely, and connect with others.

What Can Attendees Expect?

1. Musical Experience Workshops (Free Participation)

On December 28, participants can engage in exhilarating workshops led by performers from "A COMMON BEAT". The workshops will introduce participants to world dance styles and self-expression activities.

2. Stage Performances & Expression Programs

Expect a vibrant showcase of talent at Susaki Park, where community groups and individuals will present their performances. A highlight will be the collective performance of the musical number “keep the beat,” executed by students from the Fukuoka Women's Commercial High School and other local talents.

The event will feature various scheduled performances including:

The festival culminates in the grand performance of "A COMMON BEAT", which showcases the efforts of 100 local adults who have dedicated 100 days to prepare. This performance will take place over the two festival days:
  • - Performance Dates: December 27 & 28, 2025
