Predictive Ballistics Secures Major Contract with the FBI for Overt Armor Kits

Predictive Ballistics: Securing the Future of Law Enforcement Armor

Predictive Ballistics LLC has recently reached a notable milestone in law enforcement protection by securing a highly coveted contract with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to supply Overt Armor Kits (OAK). This contract not only highlights the company's innovative approach but also showcases its commitment to equipping law enforcement agencies with top-tier protective gear.

The OAK package developed by Predictive Ballistics is an exemplar of modular design, crafted specifically for the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of law enforcement tasks. These kits include the multi-functional VAULT™ armor carrier manufactured by C2R USA, incorporating the latest ballistic technology from Safariland, specifically the SX® HP ballistic package, which meets the strict NIJ STD 0101.06, Level IIIA standards. An impressive feature of this package is its areal density, at just 0.65 lb/sqft, ensuring that officers can remain agile and responsive in high-pressure scenarios.

In a highly competitive bid process, Predictive Ballistics stood out as the exclusive contract awardee among 11 leading competitors, ultimately securing a five-year, $61 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The contractor's offering was rigorously assessed based on multiple critical factors, encompassing tactical carrier design, ballistic performance, construction quality, and user feedback regarding functionality and comfort. Furthermore, the contract isn't limited to the FBI alone; other components of the Department of Justice, such as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Marshal Service (USMS), can also benefit from this comprehensive armor solution.

Scott Wyatt, the President and founder of Predictive Ballistics, expressed pride in the awarded contract, stating, "This contract award is the validation of a multiyear team effort to pair a world-class carrier system, designed for law enforcement by C2R USA, with a robust and incredibly lightweight ballistic package created by Safariland. Our team is honored to deliver a high-caliber product that not only meets but exceeds the rigorous standards set by the Bureau."

The development of the OAK solution required passing extensive ballistic testing imposed by the FBI, including tests for close-edge protection, extreme angle shots, special threat rounds, and prolonged environmental exposure. Emphasizing factors such as strength, flexibility, and durability, the SX HP ballistic package from Safariland demonstrated exceptional performance, ensuring that officers are well protected while maintaining comfortable wearability during operations.

Paul Tate from C2R USA remarked on the collaboration, saying, "Our experience in crafting bespoke carrier systems for elite teams enabled us to develop the Vault™ into the optimal system for U.S. law enforcement. Achieving this vision while ensuring U.S.-based production is a proud moment for our team, and this award reflects our steadfast dedication to excellence."

Predictive Ballistics is recognized for merging top-notch personal protective equipment with leading ballistic education and communication, focusing on aiding public safety teams in selecting optimal products tailored to their unique missions. With a vast array of collaborations spanning federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, Predictive Ballistics amplifies operational capabilities through a commitment to innovation and quality.

Headquartered in California, the company also has facilities in North Carolina for product kitting and is classified as a qualified Federal Small Business with a GSA MAS contract, further solidifying its reputation in the industry.

The Safariland Group, along with C2R USA, stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of industry leaders committed to enhancing the protective capabilities of our law enforcement agencies. The mission, "Together, We Save Lives®," encapsulates the combined ethos behind the groundbreaking armor kits that are now set to serve FBI agents and other affiliated agencies in their critical duties.

As law enforcement faces an ever-increasing array of challenges, partnerships like these underscore the importance of investing in advanced protective technologies. Predictive Ballistics has not only set a benchmark with the OAK contract but has also paved the way for future developments in officer safety and operational effectiveness.
