REI Co-op's Eugene Store Relocation in 2026
The renowned outdoor retailer, REI Co-op, has announced a significant change for its Eugene, Oregon location. In early 2026, the co-op will move from its long-standing site to the well-known Oakway Center. This transition aims to enhance the shopping experience for the local community by providing a larger space and an expanded range of products.
REI has been a staple in the Eugene community for over 30 years, operating out of one of the smaller stores in the nation. The upcoming location will be a substantial upgrade, as REI’s new space will measure nearly 10,000 square feet larger than its current facility. The Oakway Center site is centrally situated, making it more accessible for shoppers. REI’s new layout will include wider aisles, improved dressing rooms, and expanded departments focusing on footwear, cycling, and camping gear. This new configuration is strategically designed to create an incredible shopping experience for both customers and staff, fostering a more engaging retail environment.
Currently, REI Eugene employs 41 staff members, all of whom will have the opportunity to transfer to the new location. Decisions regarding additional staffing needs for the expanded facility are expected to be made later this year, with potential job openings being posted on the REI jobs website.
