Chery TIGGO9 Models Shine in South Africa with Outstanding Crash Test Results
Chery TIGGO9 Models Show Exceptional Safety in Frontal Crash Test
On August 20, two flagship SUV models from Chery, the TIGGO9, were tested in a challenging head-on collision scenario at a speed of 50 km/h on a long, straight stretch of asphalt in South Africa. This test was not just a routine evaluation but a demonstration of the robust safety engineering that Chery has pioneered in its vehicle designs.
In what can be likened to two flawless diamonds colliding in the hands of a master craftsman, the TIGGO9 models showcased their strength and resilience. Both cabins remained completely intact, with no deformation observed in critical structural pillars (A, B, and C). This illustrates the vehicle's ability to withstand significant impact without compromising passenger safety.
Every airbag in the TIGGO9, including those for the driver, front passenger, and knee airbags, activated without delay upon impact. The seatbelt pre-tensioners responded immediately, and all doors could still be opened normally, indicating a well-engineered design. Moreover, there were no fuel leaks, and the hazard lights activated automatically to signal for assistance—elements indicative of serious attention to passenger protection.
The body of the TIGGO9 is constructed using an impressive 85% high-strength steel, featuring 21% hot-formed steel with a tensile strength of up to 1500 MPa in vital areas, particularly around pillars A and B. Enhanced with double aluminum crash beams covering 85% of the vehicle's width, along with six impact boxes, this design effectively absorbs and distributes crash energy, minimizing potential injury.
Additionally, the model boasts an impressive ten airbags along with a side curtain airbag that maintains pressure for six seconds, significantly contributing to the safety during collisions. The central airbag situated between the front seats also plays an essential role in reducing the risk of secondary impacts inside the cabin.
This test marked a vital milestone in Chery's global six-dimensional safety initiative. Prior evaluations in extreme conditions in regions such as Indonesia and Mexico set the stage for this test, reinforcing the company’s commitment to rigorous safety standards.
As Chery, being the first Chinese manufacturer to export five million vehicles, continues its ascent in the automotive landscape, it recently secured a spot in the Fortune Global 500. This achievement underscores a steadfast commitment to consistent global quality and innovation. Regardless of where Chery vehicles operate, they adhere to a foundational safety structure that is as enduring as diamond. This unwavering commitment manifests not only in the aspiration to provide every user with five-star protection but also honors the brand's core philosophy of ensuring "Safety for Families."
On the same evening, the TIGGO9 made its official debut in the South African market. The following day, Chery collaborated with UNICEF to launch the “Champion for Education in Africa” forum, aiming to address pressing educational challenges faced by children across the continent. This initiative included announcing plans to finance the establishment of Hope Primary Schools, furthering Chery's motto of “In Africa, For Africa” and extending its safety promise from product technology to social responsibility.
Chery is not just an automobile manufacturer but a company that recognizes the profound impact it can make within communities. Its strategies encompass educational support and robust safety measures, reinforcing Chery's commitment not just to vehicles, but to the broader societal canvas it operates within. As consumers look towards future purchases, brands like Chery that prioritize safety, sustainability, and social contributions will certainly stand out in a competitive market.
