Barclay Group Expands Retail Portfolio with Seven Kroger-Linked Centers Over a Year

Barclay Group Expands Retail Landscape

In a significant stride towards enhancing its retail footprint, Barclay Group, a well-known real estate development firm, has proclaimed the successful rollout of seven new shopping centers anchored by Kroger over the past 15 months. This robust expansion marks a notable phase in Barclay Group’s retail development strategy, designed to cultivate high-quality, grocery-anchored shopping environments across thriving communities.

The recent openings include two significant centers in January 2025: the Flying Horse shopping center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which was inaugurated on January 22 with King Sooper's Marketplace (Kroger) as its anchor, and the Morrison Ranch center in Gilbert, Arizona, which opened its doors on January 31 featuring Fry's Marketplace (Kroger).

A Multi-Faceted Expansion

The other notable properties that have contributed to this milestone encompass several locations around the Phoenix area, all boasting Kroger's Fry’s Marketplace. These newly opened centers included:
  • - Gladden Farms in Marana, Arizona, launched in October 2024.
  • - Vistancia Point in Peoria, Arizona, which commenced operations in November 2024.
  • - Hudson Station in Queen Creek, Arizona, which opened in May 2024.
  • - Additionally, two more centers, Heritage West in Buckeye and Sycamore Farms in Surprise, are anticipated to be completed later this year.

Jim Gardner from Barclay Group shared, "These projects have been in the works for many years and we're proud to see them come to life. Our ability to deliver multiple projects of this scale in such a short timeframe speaks to the strength and dedication of our team. We remain committed to expanding our core business line by creating high-quality, grocery-anchored shopping centers in growing communities."

Nationwide Strategy and Future Endeavors

Barclay Group's recent accomplishments in Phoenix are part of a broader expansion across the United States. In 2024 alone, the firm unveiled nine retail shopping centers covering a substantial 1.9 million square feet in the southwest and southeast regions. Their portfolio now features major retail names such as Fry's (Kroger), Target, Sprouts, and EOS Fitness as anchor tenants.

The company is determined to enhance its retail segment, presenting an impressive multi-tenant retail portfolio that currently encompasses 25 properties spread across six states: Arizona, Florida, Texas, Colorado, North Carolina, and Idaho.

Colby Fincham from Barclay Group added, "Our strategy has always been relationship-focused. Moving forward, we will continue to collaborate closely with our partners to develop thoughtfully designed retail destinations that meet the needs of residents and retailers alike."
