Canadian Solar Inc. is making waves in the renewable energy sector with the announcement of three important agreements with Sunraycer Renewables LLC, a Maryland-based sustainable energy platform. This collaboration underscores the increasing focus on renewable energy development in Texas, with a commitment to deliver up to 315 MWh of battery energy storage and up to 2 GWp of high-efficiency solar modules.

Overview of Agreements



The agreements involve significant battery energy storage supply and commissioning for two projects located in Texas: the Gaia project in Navarro County and the Midpoint project in Hill County. Under these agreements, e-STORAGE, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar that specializes in battery energy storage systems, will be responsible for delivering a total of 188 MWh DC to the Gaia project and 127 MWh DC to Midpoint. Commissioning for both projects is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.

Advanced Battery Technology



To support these projects, over 60 SolBank 3.0 battery containers will be utilized. The SolBank 3.0 is Canadian Solar’s latest proprietary energy storage solution, equipped with high-density lithium-iron-phosphate cells, sophisticated battery management systems, and advanced liquid cooling thermal management systems. This innovative design ensures the reliability and security essential for large-scale projects, particularly in the demanding Texas climate.

Solar Module Deployment



In addition to energy storage, Sunraycer plans to deploy up to 2 GWp of Canadian Solar’s high-efficiency solar modules. These modules not only boast a power output of up to 725 Wp, but they also provide incredible bifaciality of 85% and a module efficiency of 23.3%. This efficiency translates into lower power degradation and higher energy yield, significantly reducing the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and overall system costs.
