Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi 2025: A Record-Breaking Spectacle
The Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has once again dazzled fans and set new records with its impressive attendance for the year 2025. Organized by Ethara, this spectacular event attracted a remarkable total of 339,000 attendees throughout the race week, marking a significant increase from the previous year's figures.
The thrilling atmosphere on Yas Island peaked as fans witnessed an extraordinary title battle between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri from McLaren, alongside Red Bull's Max Verstappen. This nail-biting contest culminated in an exhilarating weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit, which hosted a staggering 203,000 fans, showcasing a rise of nearly six percent compared to the 192,000 who attended in 2024.
The excitement didn't just end on the race track. The Yasalam After-Race Concert series became an attraction in its own right, drawing 136,000 attendees over four nights featuring performances by renowned artists such as Benson Boone, Elyanna, Post Malone, Metallica, and Katy Perry. Special after-parties hosted by celebrities like Idris Elba and Calvin Harris further enriched the event's festive atmosphere, making it a highlight in the global racing calendar.
Saif Rashid Al Noaimi, the CEO of Ethara, expressed pride in hosting an event of such magnitude and impact, claiming, "The 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be remembered for decades, showcasing thrilling racing under the bright lights of Yas Marina. We have welcomed a record number of fans, thanks to world-class entertainment programs and continuous innovation in fan experiences."
In addition to the racing and entertainment, this year's Grand Prix emphasized sustainability and eco-friendliness. Ethara's commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the event resulted in a threefold increase in temporary solar energy use, with critical areas of the circuit powered completely by clean energy. Moreover, all temporary generators operated on sustainable biofuels, significantly cutting emissions during the event.
A partnership with UAE-based company Ma-Hawa added another innovative touch, as they provided more than 260,000 liters of water, effectively avoiding the use of over 520,000 single-use plastic bottles during the weekend. Such initiatives underline Abu Dhabi's role as a sustainable event destination and align with the growing trend for eco-conscious practices in large-scale events.
As 2025 marked the closing of a historic 75th season of the Grand Prix, the Abu Dhabi event set a high bar as the largest and most thrilling edition yet.
