Slovakia Travel Expands International Presence in Scandinavia
On February 6, 2025, Slovakia Travel, the national organization dedicated to promoting tourism in Slovakia, announced the inauguration of its new representative office in Scandinavia. This significant event took place in Finland's capital, Helsinki, on January 16, 2025, just before the opening of Matka 2025, the largest travel fair in the Nordic region attracting major operators and national tourism agencies from around the world.
The opening of this representation marks an important strategic expansion for Slovakia Travel, joining existing promotional offices in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Israel. The new office will focus on countries within Scandinavia, specifically Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark, with the aim of actively promoting Slovakia as a desirable travel destination.
Ivana Vala Magátová, the Director-General of Slovakia Travel, stated, "The goal of this initiative is to enhance and renew ties between Slovakia and the Nordic countries, presenting Slovakia as a high-quality, attractive travel destination. We hope that through our collective efforts, we will gradually achieve this objective."
During the inauguration, Slovakia's Ambassador to Finland, Dušan Krištofík, praised the establishment of the representation as a crucial step towards fostering closer relationships between the nations. He noted, "Witnessing an event like this, which brings together not only countries but also their citizens, is always a great honor. Though geographically distant, Slovakia and Scandinavia have grown closer in recent years, which positively influences tourism development."
The Scandinavian market holds great potential for Slovakia, particularly in the summer months, according to Ivana Vala Magátová. "Visitors from Scandinavia often travel to the area around Bratislava, typically staying two nights on average. We see a significant opportunity for developing inbound tourism to Slovakia from these countries."
As the national tourism promotion organization, Slovakia Travel’s main mission is to enhance the tourism sector, both domestically and internationally, ensuring that travelers recognize Slovakia's unique offerings. The new Scandinavian office is expected to play a vital role in shaping perceptions about Slovakia among Nordic travelers, inviting them to explore its rich heritage, natural beauty, and cultural attractions.
In conclusion, the launch of the Scandinavian representation represents Slovakia Travel's commitment to broadening its market reach and showcasing the beauty and hospitality of Slovakia to international tourists. As the relationship between these regions strengthens, Slovakia aims to become a prime destination for Nordic travelers seeking new and enriching travel experiences.
