Haruka Nakamura's Musical Landscapes at Roppongi Tsutaya Bookstore
The Roppongi Tsutaya Bookstore in Fukuoka will host a remarkable exhibition titled
“Haruka Nakamura and the Musical Landscape” from
January 30th to February 15th, 2026. This showcase is a tribute to the acclaimed musician Haruka Nakamura, providing an immersive experience that traces his past, present, and future in music.
During the exhibition, attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage with all of Haruka Nakamura’s works, encapsulating the essence of his musical journey. A particular highlight will include the
release of a specially created “Piano Songbook”, featuring ten of the most requested piano pieces arranged for the first time in an official format. Additionally, attendees can also purchase a pre-release edition of his CD
“Still Life”, a serene collection that reflects his aesthetic philosophy through music.
Haruka Nakamura, whose music is integral to the year-long project titled
“Aoi Mori - Tsutaya Bookstore Music” from 2023 to 2024, sees this exhibition as a significant milestone. It builds upon an earlier event hosted at Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore in Tokyo, offering visitors a deeper dive into his artistic vision.
The exhibition not only celebrates Nakamura's music but also showcases his collaborations with key figures in the art world, such as photographer
Rinko Kawauchi, renowned for their work on the
Aoi Mori project. The event also honors influential connections to musicians like
Nujabes and artist
Isamu Makino, further enriching the narrative of Nakamura’s extensive creative network. Visitors will get to witness a fascinating display of artworks related to these collaborations alongside new exhibits highlighting local musicians from the Kyushu region.
The Piano Songbook
The
Piano Songbook is an exclusive collection that allows fans to not only engage with Nakamura's works but also provides insights into his creative process. In it, Nakamura shares personal anecdotes, reflections, and photographs that resonate with each composition. He recalls his early struggles with sheet music as a child and how, through moments of nostalgic playing in the evenings, he discovered his love for creating music.
In gathering this compilation, Nakamura expresses a desire to honor the requests of his fans, blending memories associated with each piece into something tangible. He invites listeners to interpret his compositions freely, much like the way he approaches his music without strict adherence to notation.
Special Release and Continued Series
In addition to the songbook, the exhibition will also feature a limited re-release of the
“Still Life” CD. Initially launched in 2020, this album quickly became a favorite, offering gentle melodies reminiscent of still life paintings. This re-release provides an opportunity for audiences who missed out the first time to experience the peaceful harmonies that have captivated many listeners.
Following the Fukuoka exhibition,
“Haruka Nakamura and the Musical Landscape” will travel to
Daikanyama Tsutaya Bookstore in Tokyo from
February 20th to March 1st. This extended showcase aims to connect more fans with Nakamura’s work and the profound emotions embedded within his compositions.
