Introduction
Unrivaled Sports, recognized as a leader in youth sports experiences across the nation, has announced an exciting event for young baseball enthusiasts: the
2026 Ripken National Championships. This prestigious tournament, presented by
DICK'S Sporting Goods, will feature top youth baseball teams from around the country, taking place from
June 29 to July 4 at the iconic
Cooperstown All Star Village in New York. This program is set to shine a light on the joy of the game while allowing young athletes to showcase their skills on a national stage.
The Significance of Ripken National Championships
The Ripken National Championships are steeped in the values of "The Ripken Way," emphasizing integrity, mutual respect, and the pursuit of excellence both on and off the field. This tournament not only provides a competitive atmosphere for young players but also promotes the joy and spirit of baseball. As the United States commemorates its
250th anniversary, this event will allow many of the nation’s best 12 and under teams to be part of a historic celebration.
Andy Campion, the CEO of Unrivaled Sports, expressed, "We are dedicated to helping build the foundation for every child's future. We believe that this competition should be inclusive, inspiring, and provide lessons in teamwork and resilience. Our goal is to create lasting memories for each young athlete, family, and community involved." This philosophy reflects their commitment to fostering personal growth through sports.
Tournament Structure and Participation
A total of
16 elite teams will compete for the championship. Twelve of these teams have earned their spots through fierce competition among over
250 teams and
3,500 athletes during the
Ripken National Qualifiers. The remaining four spots will be filled by teams that succeed in a concurrent qualifier tournament held at the Cooperstown All Star Village.
In a special highlight, Unrivaled Sports plans to honor
Keegan Ruggieri, a player from Myrtle Beach, as the first-ever Unrivaled Athlete. Ruggieri will be featured in a 30-second television spot during the CBS Sports Network broadcast. His embodiment of teamwork and leadership makes him a role model among his peers, and he also contributed to the creation of his team's unique “fireman rally cap.”
Community Engagement and Broadcast Reach
The tournament extends beyond competition, promoting inclusivity through partnerships with organizations such as the
Miracle League, which gives children with disabilities opportunities to play baseball. A special game featuring the
Miracle League of Hartford, Connecticut, against the
Miracle League of Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, will take place live on
July 4, highlighting community involvement alongside the competitive matchups.
Fans can expect comprehensive coverage, as all bracket play will be streamed live on
GameChanger—the top-rated youth sports streaming app. Select games will also air on CBS Sports Network, culminating in a live national broadcast of the
Championship Game on July 4.
This year's championship will not only feature intense competition on the field but will also include a unique
Athlete Lounge designed by DICK'S Sporting Goods and Under Armour to provide athletes with a place to recharge and share experiences. The event will also gather renowned personalities in the baseball world, including former MLB star
Jake Peavy, who will serve as the
Week's MLB Ambassador.
