The 2026 Chicago Auto Show wrapped up on February 16 after an exhilarating 10-day event at the renowned McCormick Place, marking its 118th edition. This year’s show witnessed an impressive turnout with approximately 211,850 attendees, all eager to experience the latest advancements in the automotive world, including cutting-edge vehicles, technologies, and electrified mobility options.

During the event, manufacturers from across the industry showcased their innovative models, providing consumers with the opportunity to engage directly with automotive experts and compare vehicles side-by-side. Among the standout vehicles, attendees marveled at the sleek 2026 Cadillac Celestiq and 2026 Jeep Recon, along with popular models such as the 2026 Honda Prelude and the 2026 Toyota RAV4. Concept vehicles, including the Chevrolet Corvette CX Concept and the Tesla Robotaxi, also drew significant attention, embodying the industry's dedication to future mobility solutions and design excellence.

One of the highlights of the show was the hands-on experiences offered through four immersive indoor test tracks and daily outdoor test drives. The Camp Jeep attraction was especially popular, showcasing Jeep's 4x4 capabilities on a dynamic indoor obstacle course. Ford’s “Built Wild” experience brought the Bronco family’s off-road capabilities to life, while the Chicago Drives Electric track allowed attendees to ride in a variety of battery-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Notably, the introduction of the Chicago Drives gas-powered track provided an additional experience for those interested in gas and hybrid models.

As part of enhancing engagement, new and returning specialty exhibits further elevated the overall experience. Chi-Town Alley, a debut exhibit, brought Chicago's car culture to life with a high-energy display of performance vehicles, custom builds, and street-inspired rides. A fan-voted contest crowned Tim Mejias and his 1997 BMW M3, granting him an invitation to return and exhibit at the 2027 Chicago Auto Show.

Returning favorites like Overlanding Chicago allowed for greater participation, with exhibitors camping on the show floor, creating a city-style campsite complete with engaging activities for families. The Family Zone offered interactive experiences, including a kids’ Power Wheels track and various car seat demonstrations, ensuring that younger attendees were actively immersed in the automotive atmosphere.

Special event days, including the Miles Per Hour Run, attracted dozens of participants from various states, while Automotive Career Day welcomed nearly 2,000 students, exposing them to diverse career opportunities within the automotive industry. Additionally, the Chicago Friday Night Flights event paired craft beer sampling with live music and full access to the show, creating a unique atmosphere for attendees.

The partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois for the Dennis Buckley Memorial Blood Drive was particularly impactful, as it collected 1,441 units of blood, supporting thousands of patients and addressing crucial blood shortages in winter.

The show's digital footprint was also substantial, generating millions of impressions across social media platforms, reflecting excitement surrounding the new exhibits and interactive experiences. The support from sponsors, notably Cars.com and ComEd, helped enhance the onsite experiences, making the event even more engaging for visitors.

As the Chicago Auto Show looks to the future, plans for the 2027 Show are already in motion, scheduled to return to McCormick Place from February 12 for the First Look for Charity event and open to the public from February 13 to 21. With innovative exhibits and attractions on the horizon, the show promises to continue being a pivotal player in the automotive industry.
