Global Gen Z Embraces Jinan's Cultural Richness and Innovation

In a vibrant celebration of culture and innovation, a recent event in Jinan, Shandong Province, known as the "Opportunity China Global Gen Z Views on Jinan 2025," brought together over 200 young individuals from various countries, including France, Singapore, and Indonesia. This gathering from October 30 to November 1 focused on Jinan's rich cultural heritage and its impressive strides in green technology.

A standout moment was when French youth, RIVOIRE Oceane Anna, engaged in traditional Chinese paper-cutting. With enthusiasm, she recounted her experience, stating, "This was my first time trying paper-cutting. It's amazing how traditional Chinese culture can be condensed into this single red paper-cut artwork." Her sentiments were echoed by many participating youths, showcasing a genuine curiosity about Chinese traditions.

The event emphasized the unique blend of cultural experiences and technological advancements that Jinan offers. Participants explored the Quehua Ecological and Cultural Zone in the Jinan Start-up Area, an initiative aimed at fostering economic growth and ecological conservation. This initiative aligns with China's strategy to promote sustainable development within the Yellow River Basin.

During the tour, attendees learned traditional skills such as willow weaving and paper-cutting from experts who embody the intangible cultural heritage of China. They also donned Song Dynasty-inspired Hanfu attire, fully immersing themselves in the age-old customs of Chinese civilization.

Perhaps one of the most fascinating aspects of their visit was experiencing Jinan's L4-level intelligent connected bus system. The group took a smooth and automated 15-kilometer ride that not only showcased Jinan's advancements in green transportation but also left a lasting impression on its visitors. "It's incredibly smooth. I hadn't realized Jinan's green transportation was already this advanced," commented Myradov Maksat from Turkmenistan.

Jinan, renowned for its natural springs, offered breathtaking views of the Baotu Spring, which amazed the young delegates. The scene of "clear springs flowing over stones" captivated many, reinforcing Jinan's reputation as the Spring City. At Daming Lake, they were treated to Shandong clapper ballads, allowing them to experience the region's auditory heritage. Many attendees attempted to play the clappers and communicate in the Shandong dialect, deepening their cultural immersion.

Indonesian participant Veldesen Yaputra reflected on Jinan's unique blend of ecological and cultural wisdom, stating, "In Jinan, I see Chinese-style green wisdom. The flowing springs represent not just ecological balance but also cultural continuity. It turns out 'sustainability' isn't just about technology, but a life attitude—flowing from the past to the future, constantly nourishing the world like the spring water." His words encapsulate the essence of the event, highlighting how traditional values intertwine seamlessly with modern innovation.

In conclusion, the 'Opportunity China Global Gen Z Views on Jinan 2025' event not only served as a platform for cultural exchange but also highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in urban development. As these young global citizens engaged with Jinan's rich heritage and modern advancements, they emerged with a newfound appreciation for the delicate balance between preserving tradition and embracing innovation. This experience signifies a bridge connecting the youth of today with the potential for a sustainable future, encouraging collaboration and understanding across cultures.
