Saudi Arabia Gears Up for the Second AlUla Conference on Emerging Market Economies

Saudi Arabia’s Preparations for the AlUla Conference

Saudi Arabia is preparing to welcome the second edition of the AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies (ACEME), scheduled for February 8-9, 2026. This significant event will occur in the AlUla Governorate, in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The conference is expected to gather finance ministers, central bank governors, and economic policymakers from around the world, alongside directors of international financial institutions and economic experts.

This year's conference is held against a backdrop of rapid transformations within the global economy. These dynamics necessitate that emerging market economies enhance their resilience while capitalizing on new opportunities to ensure sustainable growth and improve living standards. This, in turn, positively influences global economic stability.

The ACEME illustrates the crucial strategic partnership between the Saudi Ministry of Finance and the IMF. It reflects Saudi Arabia's growing role in promoting international economic dialogue and reinforcing international cooperation. Minister of Finance Mohammed Aljadaan emphasized that hosting the conference demonstrates the country’s ongoing commitment to supporting global efforts aimed at improving financial and economic stability worldwide. He noted that emerging market economies are a vital part of the global economic framework due to their direct impact on worldwide growth and stability.

Aljadaan stated, “The AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies provides a unique platform to exchange views on global economic events and discuss policies and reforms that will support inclusive growth and enhance economic resilience amidst broader international cooperation to address common challenges.”

The Managing Director of the IMF, Dr. Kristalina Georgieva, highlighted the importance of the AlUla Conference as a vital platform for emerging economies to deliberate on how to navigate upcoming risks and seize available opportunities. In an era of profound transformations in the global economy driven by technology, demographics, and geopolitics, policymakers face a more challenging and uncertain environment. Nations must collaborate to bolster resilience through sound macroeconomic and financial policies.

During the conference, participants will share experiences, coordinate policies and support economic reform pathways that can enable countries to benefit from global economic transformations while achieving more inclusive and sustainable growth.

The conference also aims to enhance international awareness of the challenges faced by emerging market economies; showcase the successful experiences of some countries in creating innovative solutions that improve international cooperation; encourage investment attraction; and aid in raising living standards to achieve economic prosperity.
