Union Home Mortgage Hosts Annual Partner Celebration in Cleveland
Union Home Mortgage (UHM), a rapidly growing independent mortgage banking firm, recently convened over 700 employees—referred to internally as Partners—at its Annual Partner Celebration (APC) held in Downtown Cleveland. This annual gathering is specifically designed to strengthen connections among colleagues while highlighting accomplishments from the past year and outlining objectives for the upcoming year.
The event served as a pivotal platform for the company's leadership to unveil significant organizational changes. Of particular note was the introduction of an enhanced maternity leave policy, now offering twelve weeks of paid leave, effective immediately. This initiative reflects UHM's commitment to supporting its employees in balancing work and family life.
In addition to policy enhancements, UHM also showcased its substantial investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, aimed at enhancing efficiency in the mortgage origination process. These technological advancements are set to play a crucial role in preparing the company for its ongoing evolution in the ever-changing mortgage landscape.
During the celebration, attendees had the unique opportunity to engage in a Q&A session featuring Bill Cosgrove, the CEO of Union Home Mortgage, along with Al Blank, the Senior Vice President of Business Development. The session provided Partners with insights into the strategic direction of the company, focusing on topics such as technology, collaboration across departments, and the various benefit programs available to them.
Packages of valuable insights also flowed from department presentations that spanned discussions surrounding data utilization, improving operational collaboration, and optimizing company programs. Additionally, it was exciting to note that the event was not only attended in person but also streamed live for members of the broader UHM family, which includes over 2,000 team members across the country.
After the formal portion of the afternoon concluded, the festivities continued at Topgolf in Independence, OH. This casual setting offered a chance for Partners to unwind and enjoy networking in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Reflecting on the value of the event, CEO Bill Cosgrove emphasized its significance, stating, “I look forward to this event every year because it celebrates the individuals who contribute to our thriving company culture and provides them with a platform to share their ideas and ask questions of our leadership. We eagerly anticipate bringing those ideas into reality as we prepare for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Throughout the week leading up to the celebration, various specialized meetings took place, including a Retail Sales Leadership Summit, a Third-Party Origination Summit, and a more general Leadership Summit. These gatherings were designed to empower team members with insights and strategies tailored to their respective roles within UHM.
One initiative, the Partners Coaching Partners (PCP) program, aims to elevate loan officers by connecting them with high-performing mentors and accountability partners. The Fall PCP Impact event, occurring just before the celebration, sought to furnish participants with essential skills, from improving productivity to enhancing leads and refining the origination process.
Capping off the week was a fundraising gala for the Union Home Foundation, UHM's philanthropic arm. This gala, which took place at the Huntington Convention Center, celebrated the Foundation's tenth anniversary and managed to raise over $300,000 for its mission to empower families toward achieving economic self-sufficiency. Funds from this event will support grants for nonprofits nationwide, focusing specifically on housing and financial literacy initiatives.
In summary, the Annual Partner Celebration not only marked a year of achievements but also set a promising tone for the future of Union Home Mortgage. As the company continues to invest in its culture and technology, the emphasis remains on fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, ensuring that all Partners are equipped to excel in their roles.
