Cosmos International Prize 2025 Lecture
The 2025 Cosmos International Prize commemorative lecture is set to take place, organized by the International Association for the Exhibition of Flowers and Greenery (presided over by Fujio Mitarai). This highly anticipated event will feature a lecture by this year's prize recipient, Dr. David Andrew Keith, a renowned professor at the Ecosystem Science Centre at the University of New South Wales. The lecture will occur on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, starting at 4 PM at the Ito International Research Centre at the University of Tokyo, located in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. Notably, the lecture will include simultaneous translation in both Japanese and English.
Dr. Keith has established a significant presence in the field of biodiversity conservation, dedicating his research efforts to understanding the interactions that constitute ecosystems and the threats they face. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the "International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Ecosystem Red List," which evaluates the risk of ecosystem loss. His work is poised to greatly impact future biodiversity conservation efforts, making his insights invaluable.
The theme for the lecture will be "Conservation of Earth's Ecosystems," where Dr. Keith will share his knowledge and findings, emphasizing the vital importance of preserving our planet's ecological integrity. Participants interested in attending the lecture are encouraged to register through the application form available on the Flower and Greenery Memorial Association's website. Entry is free, but prior registration is required to secure your spot.
