STARTRADER's Humanitarian Aid Efforts

In the wake of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Sarangani Province in the Philippines, STARTRADER has taken significant steps to support those affected. Through its charitable organization, STARCARES, the firm is delivering essential emergency relief to 300 families who have been displaced due to this devastating natural disaster. The affected families are mainly located in the towns of Glan and Malapatan, the areas hardest hit by the earthquake, where the immediate needs for food, water, and medical supplies have surged as recovery efforts unfold.

The earthquake's impact has been catastrophic, resulting in at least 65 confirmed fatalities, over 1,447 injuries, and around 36 individuals still unaccounted for. The structural damage is profound, with more than 57,252 homes either damaged or completely destroyed. The destruction extends to critical infrastructure—roads, bridges, schools, and healthcare facilities—all of which have suffered extensive damage. Currently, around 176,186 families are dealing with prolonged electricity outages, which complicates the recovery process.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, STARTRADER is mobilizing its resources in collaboration with local community partners and government relief agencies to deliver vital supplies. These supplies include drinking water, nutritious food, hygiene kits, first aid provisions, sleeping mats, blankets, and necessary child care items. As families face the immediate consequences of displacement and service interruptions, STARTRADER’s timely support plays a crucial role in stabilizing community life during this challenging period.

Coordinator of STARTRADER's humanitarian initiative, Peter Karsten, the CEO, emphasized the importance of collective efforts during such crises. He stated, "It is impossible to witness the repercussions of this earthquake and not feel deeply affected by the struggles these families are enduring. Each damaged home and school represents resilience and determination among families aiming to rebuild their lives. We stand with them, providing not just essential supplies but also our solidarity and the assurance that recovery is possible when we unite as a community."

This relief initiative is part of STARTRADER's larger corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives under the STARCARES program.
