Noto Revival and Side Business Project: A Year of Achievement
In January 2026, the Noto Revival and Side Business Project will mark its first anniversary, having successfully engaged over 100 participants to aid the Noto region's recovery efforts. Run by
Another works, a Tokyo-based company specializing in side business matching, this initiative in collaboration with the
Noto no Kuni 100-Year Plan seeks to connect talents with local businesses facing challenges like expertise shortages and manpower deficits.
Project Overview and Aspirations
Two years post the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, the recovery process is underway, albeit not without challenges. Many businesses in the Ishikawa region, where Noto is located, still grapple with the lack of specialized skills and personnel to navigate their recovery efforts effectively. Meanwhile, numerous individuals nationwide express a desire to contribute to Noto's revitalization but lack the opportunity or resources to do so due to their personal or professional circumstances.
Since its inception in May 2019, Another works has championed the concept of side jobs, enabling individuals to cultivate multiple professional connections while enhancing their skills and fulfilling their aspirations. Recognizing the collective desire for Noto's revival and the urgent need for a connection between passionate individuals and local businesses, the project aims to create a bridge between those willing to invest their knowledge and expertise in the Noto region's future.
The project's goal is to create a sustainable framework that fosters local community growth by merging individual aspirations with local necessities. By leveraging the expertise and passion of individuals with full-time jobs seeking to make a genuine impact within their communities, the initiative interlinks these resources with local governments and businesses eager for support. This way, it aims to shape a hopeful future for Noto through collective, community-driven efforts.
Through various collaborations with Ishikawa's municipalities, including
Noto Town,
Wajima City, and more, Another works continues to reinforce its dedication to this initiative. The collaboration with the Noto no Kuni 100-Year Plan and its network of recovery organizations plays a pivotal role in this endeavor.
54 Job Offers Published and Local Projects Initiated
In its first year, the project has listed 54 job opportunities across various sectors, receiving over 800 entries and ultimately welcoming more than 100 side talents to work on Noto area projects. The fields of work cover a broad spectrum, including public relations, branding, e-commerce, digital transformation, grant applications, business succession, new business creation, and urban development support. Each initiative is aimed at addressing diverse needs of the community and shaping both its present and future.
Project Highlights:
- - Supporting the rebirth of long-standing inns and sake breweries through strategic PR and consulting.
- - Assisting with website renewals for depopulating villages and shopping districts.
- - Fostering branding projects surrounding primary industries and local resources.
- - Offering support for business succession and new business initiatives that resonate with community roots.
Efforts to connect Noto's lifestyle, industry, and culture to future generations are actively ongoing. The community's desire to help Noto is being translated into tangible outcomes through the vehicle of
side jobs. Looking forward, the project plans to expand its initiatives to other areas within Noto while launching new projects aimed at entrepreneurial support and business attraction to introduce fresh energy into the region.
