Vantage Foundation and KDM Foundation Join Forces to Empower Jakarta's Street Children

Vantage Foundation Collaborates with KDM Foundation to Uplift Street Children in Jakarta

In an inspiring move reflecting its commitment to making a significant impact within communities, the Vantage Foundation has teamed up with KDM Foundation, a nonprofit organization located in Jakarta dedicated to changing the lives of homeless children. This partnership aims to provide education, foster creativity, and promote sustainable living among the city’s vulnerable youth.

A recent visit by Vantage Foundation representatives to the KDM campus was marked by engaging discussions about the holistic approach that KDM adopts for youth development. Under the leadership of director Sotar Sinaga, KDM acts not just as a refuge but as an empowering space where children are encouraged to explore their potential through various activities such as painting, crafts, football, and environmental education.

The campus showcases a unique self-sustaining ecosystem, complete with a small farm producing chickens and catfish, alongside an organic waste management system. These initiatives fulfill not only practical needs but also play an educational role, teaching children about sustainability, responsibility, and self-sufficiency.

One particularly moving aspect of their work is the 'Pepe Doll' art project developed in collaboration with local brand Tulisan. Inspired by the story of a young girl searching for food on the streets, the project aims to raise funds for KDM’s mission of providing education and shelter to children in need. Proceeds from the sale of these dolls directly support KDM’s initiatives.

KDM's outreach extends far beyond the walls of its campus. One of the most effective engagement tools is football—not merely as a sport but as a platform to teach discipline, cooperation, and teamwork. By organizing community matches, KDM builds trust and opens doors for vulnerable youths to find safety, guidance, and a sense of purpose.

Sotar Sinaga emphasizes the community-driven aspect of their fundraising efforts, stating, “We don’t refer to it as fundraising; we call it friend-raising. Without friends, we cannot operate our school or maintain these life-changing projects. It’s the community that drives us forward.”

The Vantage Foundation takes pride in standing alongside KDM Foundation through this partnership, aimed at establishing a brighter future for disadvantaged children in Indonesia. The joy, resilience, and creativity observed during the Vantage team’s visit deeply moved the team and reaffirmed the necessity of investing in early and inclusive support for at-risk youth.

The environment at KDM is filled with hope and opportunity,” remarked Steven Xie, CEO of Vantage Foundation. “Every child we met held a spark of potential within them, and it is through such partnerships that we can help them realize it.”

Together, the Vantage Foundation and KDM are not just building a sanctuary; they are constructing futures, confidence, and connections. This collaboration represents a meaningful step forward in Vantage Foundation’s ongoing journey to uplift communities and create lasting change.

The Vantage Foundation is an independent charitable organization established in 2023 at the McLaren technology center in the United Kingdom. The foundation has collaborated with organizations globally, including Grab Indonesia, iREDE Foundation in Nigeria, Teach For Malaysia, and Instituto Claret in Brazil, to support impactful social initiatives.
