Revolutionizing Coffee Cup Production

This innovative collaboration has led to the development of a cutting-edge inspection and stacking system designed to produce flawless aluminum coffee cups at remarkable speed and efficiency.

With the increasing popularity of single-serve coffee pods, Datwyler faced the challenge of scaling production without sacrificing quality. The partnership with Averna birthed a compact, automated solution seamlessly integrated into existing production lines, ensuring unmatched speed and accuracy.

The Averna system is installed directly downstream from Datwyler's 12-ply aluminum cup press. Utilizing advanced cameras, lighting, and algorithms, it evaluates each cup in real time at speeds of up to 8 meters per second. The complexity of this task lies in distinguishing inconsequential variations from genuine defects with 100% accuracy. Each inspection station processes 1,800 cups per minute, and with five systems operating in parallel, Datwyler can inspect and sort an impressive 9,000 cups per minute. Defective cups are automatically recycled, minimizing waste and enhancing sustainability.
