KFC Transforms Restaurant Totems into Giant Kebabs for New Döner Launch in Spain

KFC has taken an innovative approach to launch its new döner kebab menu in Spain by transforming its distinctive restaurant totems into towering kebabs. This creative campaign runs from March 24 to March 30, 2026, at selected KFC locations across Spain. The concept, developed by the agency PS21, cleverly utilizes the classic fast-food restaurant signage as a pivotal communication strategy. By drawing a visual parallel between the traditional totem pole and a kebab rotisserie, KFC effectively bridges an unexpected gap and clearly signals to customers that they can now enjoy kebabs at their favorite chicken spot.

As part of this ambitious initiative, several high-grossing KFC restaurants underwent a remarkable transformation, which included engineering projects to convert their iconic totems into full-scale kebab rotisseries. Each installation boasts an impressive height of 12 meters—an eye-catching sight made from iron, dressed in polyurethane foam to closely mimic the appearance of KFC's beloved breaded chicken. Custom bearings enable the döner to rotate continuously, creating a stunning visual effect that beckons passersby to visit the restaurant and indulge in this new offering.

To complement this striking transformation, KFC partnered with Oriental Films to produce an engaging audiovisual campaign featuring various ad spots of 20, 10, and 6 seconds for multiple platforms including television, digital media, cinema, and outdoor advertising channels. The advertisements begin with a close-up shot of a KFC employee holding up the new fried chicken kebab. The camera then zooms out to reveal the worker precariously perched atop a 12-meter-high rotating totem. In an enthusiastic tone, the employee announces the exciting news: 'At KFC… we've launched… a fried chicken kebab!'

The media plan, formulated by Arena Media, amplifies this creative idea through a multifunctional approach, emphasizing a significant out-of-home presence. The campaign creatively reimagines urban assets such as columns, transforming them into dramatic displays that showcase the new kebab rotisserie in a unique fashion. Additionally, digital circuits in vibrant nightlife areas enhance visibility, creating new opportunities for kebab consumption.

As part of the launch, KFC is offering a limited-edition menu that features kebabs, dürüm wraps, falafel, and fries served with kebab sauce. The presentation incorporates design elements inspired by the aesthetics of traditional neighborhood kebab shops, catering to consumer familiarity with this global culinary phenomenon. The enticing new offerings will be available for a limited period at KFC restaurants throughout Spain, as well as through the KFC app and website, allowing fans to conveniently order from their devices.

This bold move by KFC not only penetrates the kebab market but also embraces innovative advertising strategies to redefine consumer engagement in Spain. With its eye-catching visual displays and appetizing new menu items, KFC aims to not only draw in loyal customers but to captivate a broader audience seeking delicious and diverse food options. The creative transformations and active media presence signify KFC's commitment to evolving and exciting their fan base while solidifying their position in the competitive fast-food landscape.
