Introducing the Unique Lime-Fermented Chocolate at Muji from December 2025

Launch of Seasonal Lime-Fermented Chocolate at Muji

Muji is excited to announce the limited edition launch of chocolates that incorporate lime-fermented cacao from the renowned Kyoto-based chocolate specialty store, Dari K. The products will be available in selected Muji stores across Japan starting on December 3, 2025. This collaboration combines the unique flavors of lime with high-quality cacao grown sustainably in Indonesia.

What is Lime-Fermented Cacao?

The special ingredient, lime-fermented cacao, is produced through a unique process where limes are added during the cacao fermentation. This method brings out a natural citrus flavor and refreshing acidity in the chocolate, eliminating the need for added juices or flavorings. The cacao used in these chocolates comes from Sulawesi Island in Indonesia, known for its fruity acidity.

Delicious Product Lineup

The new range of chocolates includes several delightful items:
1. Lime-Fermented Cacao Raisin Truffles (40g) - 550 JPY: These truffles feature a combination of the refreshing citrus scent of chocolate with the natural flavor of whole raisins, providing a smooth melting texture.
2. Lime-Fermented Cacao Ice Chocolate (90ml) - 350 JPY: This ice cream combines the fruity aroma of lime with silky chocolate, perfect for a refreshing treat.
3. Lime-Fermented Cacao Chocolate (40g) - 490 JPY: Button-shaped chocolate made with lime-fermented cacao, offering a delicate scent and a smooth melt-in-the-mouth experience.
4. Lime-Fermented Cacao Chocolate-Covered Cashews (40g) - 550 JPY: Roasted cashews are enveloped in the citrus-scented chocolate, creating a deliciously nutty flavor.

Dari K's Sustainable Practices

Dari K not only produces high-quality chocolates but also engages in sustainable practices by working directly with cacao farmers in Indonesia. Their efforts include training farmers in cultivation methods that enhance both the quality and quantity of cacao yield, as well as promoting biodiversity through agroforestry, where cacao is grown alongside other crops. This approach supports local farmers and encourages a sustainable cacao industry.
