Discover the Ocean and Boost Creativity at 'Ocean in a Bottle' Event for Kids

Ocean in a Bottle: An Engaging Learning Experience for Kids

The Global Learner's Institute (GLI), based in Minato, Tokyo, is excited to announce an upcoming event titled Ocean in a Bottle on May 28, 2025, at GLI Hiroo. Designed for children aged 6 to 9, this event combines science, environment, and art to stimulate intellectual curiosity and promote environmental literacy.

Embracing the Wonders of the Ocean

Covering more than 70% of our planet, oceans are home to a stunning variety of life forms, from whales and dolphins to sea turtles, jellyfish, and an array of fish species. The Ocean in a Bottle event aims to enlighten young minds about marine biodiversity and ecosystem connections, while also addressing pressing issues like ocean pollution that our modern society faces.

The format of the event is interactive, going beyond mere scientific understanding. By integrating artistic elements, kids will not only learn about important concepts but will also enhance their creativity and self-expression through hands-on activities. Participants will enjoy an immersive English environment, allowing them to develop their critical thinking, language skills, and appreciation for diversity in a fun and engaging way.

Highlights of the 'Ocean in a Bottle' Event

1. Mini Lesson – Ocean Awareness
Participants will learn about the significance of marine life and the current state of ocean pollution through engaging visuals and real-life materials, nurturing early scientific thinking.

2. Demonstration with Guest
A special demonstration will be conducted by overseas interns who will guide attendees in creating their own Ocean Sensory Bottle. As they listen to instructions in English, children will naturally familiarize themselves with relevant vocabulary and expressions.

3. Sensory Bottle Creation
Under the guidance of instructors, kids will actively participate in making their unique ocean sensory bottles, translating creativity into tangible creations.

4. Free Exploration & Sensory Stations
Participants will have opportunities to arrange small items representing ocean life, such as sand, water beads, and plastic sea creatures. This segment will encourage independent thought and expression.

5. Reflection & Sharing Circle
Finally, children will share their completed bottles and engage in reflections, fostering introspection and communication skills.

Three Educational Values of the Event

1. Enhancing Communication Skills

The entirely English-speaking environment promotes both verbal and non-verbal expressions, helping kids develop their ability to communicate effectively. They will gain experience expressing themselves in diverse ways, not just through words.

2. Fostering Diversity Skills

This event provides a platform for cultural understanding, allowing children to naturally cultivate empathy and mutual understanding with others. These skills are crucial for thriving in a global society.

3. Cultivating Creativity and Self-Esteem

Through art, children will be encouraged to express their ideas freely, experiencing the joy of self-expression. Engaging in production activities will empower them to build confidence in their unique identities.
