Grand Opening of Middlesex Hospital Specialty Pharmacy
Middlesex Hospital, located in Middletown, Connecticut, has officially opened its first specialty pharmacy, a collaborative effort with Clearway Health, a Boston-based specialty pharmacy services provider. The grand opening, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, is set to enhance patient care in the region by improving access to vital specialty medications.
The newly established pharmacy spans 1,867 square feet and is situated at 536 Saybrook Road, on the lower level of the Middlesex Health Cancer Center. It will be operational Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, starting October 1, 2025. The joint initiative of Middlesex Hospital and Clearway Health aims to streamline medication delivery and enhance support for patients throughout Middlesex County and along Connecticut's shoreline.
Enhanced Patient Care and Support
The specialty pharmacy is designed specifically to cater to the medicinal needs of patients who are not admitted to the hospital while also offering retail pharmacy services. This initiative comes in response to recent closures of retail pharmacies in the area, ensuring that patients continue to have access to essential medications. The pharmacy will provide a comprehensive array of services, including:
- - Specialized medication education
- - Clinical support for medication adherence
- - Refill reminders
- - Affordable medication options through prior authorizations
- - Co-pay assistance
- - Home delivery services for convenience
