Star Refrigeration: Championing the Scottish Meat Industry as SAMW Conference Sponsor

Star Refrigeration Empowers Scottish Red Meat Sector

In a significant move for the Scottish meat industry, Star Refrigeration has reaffirmed its dedication by sponsoring the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers (SAMW) Annual Conference scheduled for September 26, 2025. This pivotal event will transpire at The Royal Highland Centre Pavilion in Ingliston, bringing together representatives from across Scotland's red meat sector to engage in insightful discussions and networking opportunities.

The SAMW Annual Conference is acknowledged as one of the foremost platforms for the red meat industry in Scotland. It serves as a meeting ground for processors, industry experts, and policymakers to delve into the various challenges and opportunities that shape the sector’s future. Topics at the forefront of discussion will include regulatory changes, sustainability practices, innovation, and skill enhancement, providing attendees the chance to share ideas and develop collaborative solutions for industry challenges.

Star Refrigeration, renowned for its expertise in sustainable cooling and heating solutions, has extended its support to red meat processors throughout Scotland and the larger UK. With several decades of experience in the field, the company has successfully partnered with various meat businesses to minimize environmental impact, reduce energy costs, and enhance operational efficiency. This partnership becomes increasingly vital in light of stricter regulations and the growing expectations of environmentally conscious consumers.

At the upcoming conference, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Star's engineering experts, who will offer valuable insights into innovative technologies. Discussions will include the use of natural refrigerants, heat recovery systems, and digital energy optimization tools. All these innovations are geared towards assisting the red meat sector in achieving lower carbon emissions and improved efficiency.

Stuart Webb, Sales Manager for Star Refrigeration in Scotland, expressed, "Our sponsorship of SAMW represents our ongoing commitment to the red meat sector. We're dedicated to working closely with processors and industry organizations, ensuring access to technical knowledge and real-world case studies. Our goal is to advocate the adoption of cleaner, greener, and safer industrial cooling solutions."

He elaborated on a recent project where Star Refrigeration successfully implemented a new low-temperature freezer plant designed for a large carton freezer and three impingement tunnels, alongside a three-chamber cold storage facility capable of operating in both chilled and frozen states. By employing a CO₂ and ammonia cascade system, the project not only expanded the facility's capacity but also integrated advanced heat recovery measures to significantly lower energy consumption, emissions, and overall operational costs.

"At the conference, we are excited to share our experiences from such projects to highlight how we collaborate with meat businesses in designing future-proof facilities that not only comply with regulations but also promote sustainability and efficiency," Webb added.

The SAMW Annual Conference will commence at 10:30 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM, followed by a networking lunch featuring a three-course meal. This gathering presents a valuable opportunity for delegates to forge connections with industry leaders and suppliers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
