OREF's Second Annual Day of Giving
On October 22, the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) will host its second annual Day of Giving. This event aims to raise vital funds to support research on musculoskeletal (MSK) diseases that impact millions in the United States.
MSK diseases affect over half of the American population aged 18 and older, and a staggering proportion of nearly 75% for those aged 65 and above. These conditions lead to a massive loss of productivity, resulting in approximately 364 million workdays missed—making it one of the most significant health challenges we face today. As the leading private non-profit organization, OREF actively funds research in various MSK subspecialties, striving to improve overall quality of life for individuals affected by these diseases.
Launched last year to celebrate OREF's 70th anniversary, the Day of Giving is a 24-hour initiative designed to secure donations for life-altering MSK research. This year, OREF has set an ambitious goal to gather 75 new donations within this timeframe. As a special tribute, the foundation will allocate the first 40 contributions to a new research grant, honoring Carmen Metoyer, the Grants Program Manager, for her dedicated 40 years of service with OREF.
