Taiwan Weeks 2026: A Global Capital Market Connection Initiative

Taiwan Weeks 2026: Enhancing Global Capital Market Connections

Taiwan has officially launched its second annual "Taiwan Weeks," which runs from November 3 to 13, 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen global capital market connectivity and further Taiwan's goal of becoming a leading asset management hub in Asia. This year's event gathered over 400 participants, including prominent leaders from international exchanges, asset managers, institutional investors, and major players in Taiwan’s financial sector.

Led by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), the event received support from various Taiwanese securities and futures institutions, such as the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), Taipei Exchange (TPEx), Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), and the Taiwan Depository Clearing Corporation (TDCC). Together, these entities are highlighting Taiwan's steadfast economic resilience in the face of the booming AI industry.

Key Priorities of Taiwan Weeks 2026

During the opening ceremony, FSC Chairman Peng Jin-lung delineated three critical priorities:
1. Internationalizing Financial Markets: Taiwan aims to attract international investors and promote the Asian Asset Management Center (AAMC) initiative, which focuses on enhancing the region's asset management capabilities.
2. Promoting Capital Market Innovation: This involves implementing regulatory and trading reforms that stimulate growth and introduce innovative financial products in the marketplace.
3. Building a Trustworthy Investment Environment: By improving corporate governance and sustainability disclosures, Taiwan seeks to create a more reliable and attractive investment climate.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the significant increase in Taiwan's benchmark index, the TAIEX, which soared from 28,000 to 45,000 points over the last year. The total market capitalization also reached an impressive NT$158 trillion (approximately US$5.03 trillion), showcasing the growth and robustness of Taiwan's financial markets. Additionally, Taiwan's Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) market jumped to NT$11.6 trillion (US$370 billion), making it the third largest in the Asia-Pacific region.
