The festival is scheduled to commence on February 7, 2025, under the theme "Abu Dhabi – A World of Harmony." This year's festival emphasizes cultural diversity and artistic excellence while celebrating Japan as its country of honor, in commemoration of over 50 years of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Japan.
The festival promises an impressive lineup of globally acclaimed talent that encompasses orchestras, Taiko ensembles, opera, solo performances, and visual arts exhibitions. The aim is to engage and inspire both local and international audiences through a multitude of artistic expressions. Notably, this edition will feature 12 headline Arab premiere performances and world-exclusive co-productions.
One of the highlights includes the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra under the talented baton of Yutaka Sado, alongside other eminent artists such as tenor Jonathan Tetelman and violinist Augustin Hadelich. The festival will also present celebrated acts like the acclaimed KODO Japanese Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble, and an opera gala showcasing star tenor Javier Camarena and soprano Jessica Pratt. The festival serves as a platform for harmony through shared ideas and opportunities, transcending borders."
The festival aims to forge new cultural partnerships with international institutions, paving the way for greater collaboration between nations, global artists, and diverse audiences. In addition to the local events, the festival's program will embark on an international tour, celebrating significant milestones such as the world premiere of Debussy's "Pelléas et Mélisande" in collaboration with the Opera National de Paris. Furthermore, it will feature notable visual arts exhibitions in partnership with the Seoul Museum of Art in Korea, thereby extending its cultural reach to China, Japan, and Singapore.
