IRORI Tabata's Korean Fair: A Unique Culinary Experience
Nestled in the heart of Tabata, Tokyo,
IRORI Tabata, which opened its doors in November 2025, is set to host a special event titled
Korean Fair on January 18 and 19, 2026. This two-day celebration of Korean cuisine will feature a unique one-plate meal that captures the essence of vibrant flavors and textures abundant in Korean gastronomy.
On these dates, guests can indulge in a specially crafted
Korean One-Plate meal, priced at an affordable
2,000 yen, which even includes a side of seaweed soup. This delightful platter showcases a variety of popular dishes, including
Gimbap,
Chorong Salad,
Cheese Balls,
Yangnyeom Chicken,
Cream Cheese Chanja,
Tteokbokki, and
Japchae, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. To complement the meal, a selection of Korean beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, will be available. Additionally, guests can utilize crowdfunding dining vouchers as part of their experience.
A Warm and Inviting Atmosphere
IRORI Tabata was conceived to be more than just a dining location; it aims to create a warm, welcoming space where people can gather much like around an
irori, igniting connections in our digitally-driven era. The establishment is led by
Nami Yoshida, the 30-year-old owner, together with experienced chefs and friendly staff, who collectively work to provide exceptionally attentive service in a relaxed yet sophisticated setting.
In just about a month since its opening, the restaurant has become a favorite among local residents. Many patrons, including couples, have expressed their enjoyment of the calming and homely ambiance. Customers have continually returned, sharing sentiments like, “It feels just like home” and “I look forward to today’s specials.” The buzz around the restaurant is also fueled by the successful crowdfunding campaign prior to its opening, which has allowed the community to connect with the restaurant’s journey.
From Pop-Ups to a Permanent Location
The story of
IRORI Tabata isn’t just about establishing a restaurant overnight; it is rooted in perseverance and gradual growth through pop-up events. After leaving a corporate job that didn’t resonate with her, Yoshida honed her service skills during her time at a Greek restaurant in Ginza, where she excelled in customer interaction for seven years. It was here that her desire to create a unique dining space blossomed.
Through the experience gained from about six pop-up events over a year in the Shin-Okubo area, she transformed her dreams from the realm of “someday” to “let’s do this,” eventually leading to the establishment of her very own restaurant.
Community Support: The Backbone of Success
The physical space of
IRORI Tabata was created by renovating a building that holds familial ties. Despite facing challenges with funding and construction—barriers that often accompany such undertakings—Yoshida relied on her family and community’s support to navigate these waters. The crowdfunding initiative not only helped finance the restaurant but also opened a pathway for the community to share in its vision.
Culinary Offerings Beyond the Fair
While the Korean Fair represents a special highlight,
IRORI Tabata offers a range of lunch and dinner items year-round. Lunch features an artistic array of seasonal ingredients presented in a single plate, while dinner focuses on heartwarming Japanese dishes infused with French-style offerings. This balance aims to provide diners with a delightful experience that feels both intimate and rewarding.
The Korean Fair, as Yoshida expressed in her comments, is an invitation for everyone to enjoy a day of rich flavors and culinary adventure. “We want our guests to experience the joy of Korean cuisine in an informal yet exquisite setting. We look forward to welcoming everyone to join us,” she stated.
