French Group MND Strengthens Global Leadership in Avalanche Risk Prevention

MND's Continued Dominance in Avalanche Risk Management

The French company MND has solidified its standing as the global leader in avalanche risk prevention and control by securing new contracts in Canada, the United States, Chile, Argentina, and Norway. This achievement underscores MND's commitment to providing advanced and reliable safety solutions in extreme environments across five continents.

New Contracts Across the Globe

1. Canada: MND is enhancing access routes to critical sites. The company has secured the access route for the Brucejack gold mine located in British Columbia, covering a challenging 76-kilometer route from the Knipple glacier. MND is installing a Gazex system to ensure safe passage year-round, irrespective of weather conditions. Newmont, through its distributor Avatek, opted for MND due to the reliability and autonomy demonstrated by the 13 Gazex systems installed for this rugged terrain.

2. United States: The California Department of Transportation has renewed its contract with MND for an additional three years, involving the renovation of six Gazex systems in the Tahoe Valley area, showcasing the ongoing trust placed in MND for maintaining road safety in avalanche-prone regions.

3. Chile: At the Los Bronces copper mine owned by CODELCO, MND is modernizing existing communication systems for about forty Gazex units. This update includes satellite connectivity through eighteen satellites, ensuring reliable communication between control bases and the SAFET-Cs web platform. Additionally, systems are being installed in high-altitude areas exceeding 3000 meters at the Andina mine.

4. Argentina: MND is upgrading Gazex systems in the Las Leñas ski resort, located 800 kilometers from Buenos Aires. The enhancement will aim to facilitate safety between altitudes of 2200 and 3430 meters, which are prone to avalanche risks, especially in the winter months.

5. Norway: In Arnøya, MND is securing a key roadway with 24 mobile O’BellX® units complemented by radar and weather stations, providing critical avalanche protection for backcountry ski routes. The contract also ensures a renewable five-year operational maintenance plan, securing continual safety measures in the region.

A Global Presence

Currently, MND has installed over 3,000 systems across 22 countries, safeguarding various infrastructures, including industrial sites, railways, roads, ski resorts, and remote communities. A notable project in the Chamonix Valley includes advanced systems to secure access to the Mont-Blanc tunnel, demonstrating MND's robust commitment to mountain safety and mobility.

MND specializes in cable mobility, snowmaking systems, mountain security, and adventure leisure infrastructures, carving out a niche with proven safety solutions. With a client base exceeding 3,000 across 49 countries, MND plays an essential role in enhancing mobility, recreation, and safety through its extensive experience and innovative technology.
