GTF Green Challenge Day 2025: Taking Action for Our Planet's Future

GTF Green Challenge Day 2025: A Call to Action for the Planet

As the world faces unprecedented climate challenges, the GTF Greater Tokyo Festival Committee is excited to announce the 15th anniversary of the GTF Green Challenge Day, set to take place on November 1-2, 2025, at the picturesque Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo. Collaborating with various partners including the Ministry of the Environment and TBS Holdings, this event aims to inspire individuals and organizations to engage in eco-friendly actions while experiencing the beauty of nature and the spirit of community.

A Historic Occasion

Launched in 2010, the GTF Green Challenge Day has evolved into a platform empowering individuals to undertake environmental commitments, fostering a culture of sustainability. With the United Nations recently highlighting the severity of climate change as the “Boiling Earth,” the 2023 climate crisis challenges have become palpably close to home, initiating critical discussions and actions necessary for our future.

Under the theme “Connect and Support the Forests, Rivers, and Seas,” this year's GTF will present various initiatives related to decarbonization, circular economies, and disaster recovery. Attendees can look forward to informative sessions, workshops featuring local produce and chef-designed menus, and vibrant performances by artists and community groups. The festival will not only break down barriers between different sectors but also create an engaging atmosphere for attendees to learn, share, and connect.

What to Expect at the Event

The event will showcase a diverse range of activities including:
1. Exhibitions: Businesses, local governments, and non-profits will present their green initiatives, emphasizing sustainable products and services.
2. Workshops: Attendees can participate in hands-on experiences related to crafts, woodworking, and using natural materials.
3. Educational Programming: The GTF will offer talks and panels on the latest environmental topics, led by experts in climate science and sustainability practices.
4. Local Food Stalls: Enjoy special menu items featuring Edo-Tokyo vegetables and ingredients from disaster-affected areas, promoting local culinary heritage.
5. Community Engagement: With activities like the “Green Photo Challenge,” attendees can engage through social media and share their experiences with a wider audience.
6. Disaster Recovery Support: Emphasis on regional recovery efforts will be highlighted, showcasing the resilience of communities affected by recent disasters like the Kumamoto earthquake and the Hokkaido Eastern earthquake.

As a unique venue historically tied to the Imperial family and classified as one of Japan's three national parks, Shinjuku Gyoen will host the Chrysanthemum Exhibition concurrently with the GTF Green Challenge Day. This will provide a beautiful backdrop for interactions focused on sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Call for Participants and Sponsors

The GTF Green Challenge Day 2025 is actively seeking exhibitors and sponsors, particularly those offering eco-friendly products or services. This is an opportunity to showcase your commitment to sustainability and engage with attendees directly. Special arrangements exist for organizations supporting disaster recovery, with reduced registration fees to facilitate participation. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025.

By attending or participating in the GTF Green Challenge Day, you can play a crucial role in promoting environmental awareness and building a sustainable future. Together, we can connect the dots between community revival and ecological responsibility, paving the way for future generations.
