Daito Kentaku Partners with With Midwife for Postpartum Care Services

Daito Kentaku and With Midwife Team Up for Postpartum Care

In a significant step towards enhancing support for new parents, Daito Kentaku Corporation has announced a collaboration with With Midwife, a company specializing in comprehensive pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare services. This partnership marks the beginning of a new era in postpartum care, set to officially launch in May 2026. The initiative is part of a larger corporate venture capital (CVC) activity, supported by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's matching program for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups.

Focus on Postpartum Care

The collaboration's first phase will involve a pilot project in Nakano, Tokyo. Daito Kentaku plans to utilize certain floors of a managed apartment complex to create a dedicated “Postpartum Care Apartment.” This facility will have 24/7 midwifery support, a nursery for babies, and comprehensive meal services, offering new parents a comforting environment to recover and learn postpartum skills.

The need for such services has grown significantly in recent years. Factors such as urban childbirth, changing job patterns among grandparents, and health crises have made traditional “return home” births less feasible for many families. This has resulted in increased feelings of isolation after childbirth. Notably, it is estimated that around 10% of both mothers and fathers experience mental health issues, such as postpartum depression, emphasizing the urgent need for accessible support.

A Unique Approach to Care

The combination of Daito Kentaku’s extensive real estate assets and With Midwife’s network of over 500 midwives and online consultation platforms aims to transform postpartum care. This innovative model will not just provide accommodation but will also focus on the holistic recovery of new parents during the critical first month after birth. The apartments will be optimized for both physical and emotional healing, ensuring parents receive expert guidance on childcare skills in a supportive environment.

The project will kick off with seven apartments, available in different configurations, such as standard rooms, work & relaxation spaces, and more spacious options for families. Each unit will be fully furnished and equipped with high-speed internet. Additionally, services like round-the-clock midwifery care, baby-sitting facilities, and even amenities for couples will be provided to enhance the living experience.

Future Aspirations

As part of this partnership, Daito Kentaku and With Midwife aim to expand the postnatal care facility model significantly by 2030, targeting the establishment of over 100 such rooms across the Tokyo metropolitan area. The long-term vision is to create a community where families can comfortably raise children, thus contributing to a society where having and nurturing children is a stress-free experience.

Daito Kentaku is committed to leveraging its national housing assets in collaboration with With Midwife to not only support public services but also create additional value in Japan's rental market. By providing a nurturing and supportive environment for new parents, this initiative stands to redefine postpartum care in the country.
