Tokyo Carbon Credit Generation Seminar 2026, aimed specifically at local SMEs.
Details of the Seminar

This seminar will provide critical insights into carbon credits, including their basic concepts and specific case studies that demonstrate successful decarbonization practices by SMEs. Participants will also learn about the support measures offered by the Tokyo government to assist these businesses in adopting sustainable measures.
What are Carbon Credits?
Carbon credits are certification mechanisms that validate the reduction or absorption of CO2 emissions resulting from various activities, such as the implementation of energy-efficient equipment or forest management practices. Through third-party verification, these credits can be traded among companies, promoting a market-driven approach towards reducing greenhouse gases.
Seminar Agenda
The seminar will kick off with an opening keynote talk titled
“It’s a Missed Opportunity to Think It Doesn’t Concern Us! A Beginner's Guide to Generating Carbon Credits for SMEs.” This insightful session will be led by
Tomoko Mizuno, a director at the Tokyo Environmental Management Institute and a certified small business consultant.
Following the keynote, there will be presentations showcasing specific examples of how SMEs are successfully integrating decarbonization into their operations. One notable presentation will be by
Yoichi Matsumura, the Managing Executive Officer in charge of Management and Manufacturing at Meiji Steel Co., who will outline practical approaches taken by small-scale enterprises in their journey towards carbon neutrality.
Additionally,
Yuichi Matsui, the Representative Director of Farm Machida Tokyo Co., will discuss innovative methods for generating J-Credits through agriculture. He will present strategies that involve applying charcoal in fields, which contributes to carbon sequestration and offers accessibility for small farmers through program-based projects.
Tokyo's Supporting Measures
Participants will also be introduced to various support mechanisms extended by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, designed to facilitate SMEs in their transition toward sustainable practices. These resources are crucial for empowering local businesses to participate effectively in the green economy.
