Project HEAL Shares Exciting Plans for HEAL Week with Collaborative Virtual Events

Project HEAL Announces HEAL Week 2026: A Path to Recovery

In an inspiring initiative, Project HEAL, America's only nonprofit focused on eliminating barriers to eating disorder treatment, has unveiled its plans for HEAL Week 2026. Running from October 5 to October 11, this year's theme, Healing Happens Together, highlights the collaboration among clinicians, researchers, artists, activists, and those recovering from eating disorders, aiming to dismantle obstacles to healing.

The campaign sets in motion nine virtual events that include conversations about the various challenges individuals face on their road to recovery. These discussions will be particularly focused on unique barriers encountered by high-weight individuals, athletes, BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and recipients of Medicaid and Medicare.

Daily Events to Enlighten and Support

The cornerstone of this community effort will be a series of Lunch & Learn panels happening each day during the week from October 5 to 9. Set to take place from 1 PM to 2 PM ET, these sessions will equip attendees, including clinicians, caregivers, and community leaders, with essential tools and strategies to assist loved ones struggling with eating disorders.

After each daily learning session, individuals engaged in recovery can partake in the Healing Hour activities from 7 PM to 8 PM ET, running from October 5 to 8. This segment aims to foster a nurturing atmosphere where participants can discuss body image, explore self-care without colonial influences, engage in mindful movement, and express themselves through art.

Dr. Whitney Trotter, the CEO of Project HEAL, emphasizes the importance of community in the recovery process, stating, “Healing does not happen in isolation. Often, those grappling with eating disorders confront not only the illness itself but also the complex systems that hinder their access to necessary care and support.” She hopes that HEAL Week will serve as a platform for community empowerment and advocacy for change.

New Initiatives to Support Mental Health

Additionally, Project HEAL announces the launch of its The Care Collective, a monthly giving program aimed at providing consistent support to around 5.5 million Americans who face eating disorders each year, of which an alarming 77% go untreated. Tara Criscuolo, Senior Marketing and Development Manager at Project HEAL, points out, “Monthly donors are integral to our mission, ensuring that we can connect more individuals to care. Each contribution means we can support one more person in their recovery journey.”

A Call to Action

With no government funding, Project HEAL relies on the generosity of supporters to keep its invaluable services running for free across the nation. Robust backing ensures that the nonprofit can continue providing essential resources to individuals in need.
