From Easter to Year-Round: Overcomers Outreach Empowers Galveston County Community
Overcomers Outreach is on an impactful journey this year, significantly enhancing its community presence in Galveston County. By introducing a comprehensive lineup of events, the organization aims to deliver dignity, hope, and tangible support to families, children, and the homeless population throughout the area. After the success of their Easter celebration in April, which attracted hundreds of volunteers and donors, Overcomers has committed to a year-long outreach initiative, putting compassion into action.
On April 12, in collaboration with Spike Electric and several dedicated local organizations, Overcomers Outreach hosted a much-celebrated Easter event at Menard Park. The occasion drew over 300 attendees and provided essential goodies such as Easter baskets, hot meals, blankets, hygiene products, and clothing to underprivileged families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Cole Attaway, CEO of Spike Electric, expressed the essence of the event perfectly: "This event was never about charity. It was about dignity, connection, and showing people that they are not forgotten. We want to lead, not just in business, but in serving our communities with humility and love."
The event significantly benefited several key groups:
1. Homes for Children provided opportunities for kids without families to celebrate Easter surrounded by love and community.
2. Low-Income Families experienced seasonal joy and received tangible resources during challenging financial times.
3. The Homeless Community was given hot meals, essential clothing, and care packages filled with necessities to aid in their daily survival.
Participating organizations like His Recovery Home, Recovery Chicks, Seawall Church, and JankieFit played vital roles through financial contributions, volunteer hours, and donated supplies. This collaboration stands as a poignant reminder of what can be achieved when nonprofits, businesses, and religious communities unite to care for those often overlooked.
"This isn’t a one-time occurrence," Attaway asserted. "We are committed to this throughout the year." With the momentum from the April event, Overcomers Outreach officially launched its 2025 Community Outreach Series, designed to address practical needs while fostering trust and belonging across Galveston County.

In addition to seasonal events, Overcomers Outreach is organizing monthly outreach gatherings every second Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Menard Park (2222 28th St, Galveston, TX). These gatherings will offer ongoing community support through meals, supplies, and connections.
