Exclusive Release of UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee Anaerobico: A Limited Treat for Coffee Lovers

UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee Anaerobico Launch

UCC Ueshima Coffee Co., Ltd. has announced the annual release of their extremely rare "UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee Anaerobico". Starting on August 14th, this distinctive coffee, which is grown on UCC’s own farm located on the Big Island of Hawaii, will be available for purchase at the UCC official online store and through 18 cafes nationwide, including the UCC Café Mercato.
The Anaerobico process adopted in this coffee helps to enhance its rich flavors through fermentation, giving enthusiasts a unique tasting experience only available once a year in Japan.

What is Anaerobico?

Anaerobico, or anaerobic fermentation, is a winemaking technique that involves fermentation in an oxygen-free environment. This method enables the formation of distinctive flavors through the action of anaerobic microorganisms.
In the case of the UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee, this process brings out vibrant notes that highlight the inherent qualities of the coffee while adding layers of flavor, like ripe fruit notes.

UCC's Commitment to Quality

UCC is deeply committed to delivering exceptional coffee from production to sale. Their mission revolves around unleashing the potential of coffee for a better world. With a focus on sustainable practices, UCC operates direct farms in places like Jamaica and Hawaii, engaging in environmental conservation efforts and providing support to local farmers.

The UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee Anaerobico is just one of the ways they are innovating in the coffee sector. This year, the vibrant, fruity flavor profile of the Anaerobico process juxtaposes beautifully with the coffee’s natural acidity, resulting in a smooth and well-balanced cup.
Each year, the limited supply maintains its exclusivity, as the production scale is inherently small due to the labor-intensive nature of the fermentation process.

More About the UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee Anaerobico

The origins of the UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee date back to the establishment of the UCC-owned farm in the Kona district, which started in 1989. Situated at an elevation of about 460 meters, the farm spans approximately 16 hectares, with around 9 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation.
Producing high-quality Kona coffee involves a meticulous hand-picking process, where each cherry is carefully harvested to ensure only the best beans are used.
The farm's yield is relatively limited—around 4.5 tons per year—further amplifying the coffee’s rarity.

Flavor Profile

Once brewed, the UCC Hawaiian Kona Coffee Anaerobico offers a delightful explosion of flavors. It features notes reminiscent of apricot and lychee, creating a refreshing, fruity experience that morphs into a subtle sweetness as it cools.
The smooth texture and balanced composition make it perfect for coffee connoisseurs seeking something extraordinary.
