Mobileye Partners with Stellantis on Next-Generation Vehicle Safety

In a significant development in the automotive world, Mobileye, the global leader in advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technologies, has announced that its cutting-edge cloud-connected ADAS technology, known as Cloud-Enhanced Advanced Driver Assist™, will be integrated into some of Stellantis's next-generation vehicles starting in 2027. This integration is expected to enhance both safety and convenience for drivers through cloud-sourced road information.

Stellantis, a prominent global automotive manufacturer, adds Mobileye's Road Experience Management™ (REM) technology to its portfolio as a means to leverage advanced road intelligence. The REM platform aggregates and analyzes road data collected from vehicles on the road, providing real-time updates to enhance safety features and driving conditions. Notably, this innovative REM technology covers more than 95% of public roads in the United States and Europe, positioning Stellantis at the forefront of automotive safety and technology in collaboration with Mobileye.

As part of this partnership, the integration of REM will support a wide range of driving assistance features. Among these will be superior lane-keeping assistance on roads without clear lane markings, as well as hands-free driving capabilities under specified conditions, allowing drivers to maintain focus ahead. Mobileye’s support will be instrumental for Stellantis vehicles scheduled to hit the U.S. market in 2027, following which additional vehicles will progressively adopt this technology based on platform and specifications.

Mobileye’s REM technology utilizes front-facing cameras equipped with EyeQ™ processors to gather pertinent data about road conditions via a cloud-sourcing method. This collection includes details about curb locations, pedestrian crossings, and typical driving paths. Remarkably, all collected information is anonymized before being sent to the cloud, where it undergoes processing and integration. This leads to the development of an advanced road intelligence platform that supports not just ADAS but also autonomous driving systems and technologies for fully self-driving vehicles.

The road intelligence framework continuously updates attributes related to traffic lights, lane positions, optimal driving speeds, and various road features that contribute to safe and comfortable driving experiences. Live updates from the cloud will ensure vehicles maintain access to the latest driving conditions, supporting advanced driving assistance functions.

The road data covered by REM spans a rich variety of environments from highways to complex urban settings across the U.S. and Europe, while also amassing extensive road data in major markets throughout Asia, North America, and South America. By continuously collecting data from numerous vehicles worldwide, Mobileye ensures a high coverage rate and real-time data currency. This adaptability allows for rapid integration of changes due to road construction or other environmental shifts into the road intelligence framework.
