The CHIBA250 training program, co-hosted by JPF Corporation and the Japan Cycle Sports Promotion Association (JCSPA), is set to embark on its third cohort with applications now officially open. This initiative, held at the Chiba JPF Dome, offers a unique training platform designed to foster the potential of aspiring young cyclists aged from 14 to 16 years old. The program aims to harness the power of practice on a 250m bank track, aligned with international standards, while promoting collaborative training sessions between high school students and university athletes. This not only enhances competitive abilitities but also aids in the students' career development in the sport.

Purpose and Objectives

In recent years, many nationwide and international cycling competitions have been held on 250m tracks. However, opportunities for middle and high school students to train on such tracks have been quite limited. The CHIBA250 training program responds to this gap, providing a structured approach for students who wish to continue cycling post-high school. Many young athletes face challenges in envisioning their futures in cycling and often drift away from the sport due to lack of guidance or exposure. By training alongside university athletes from Nippon University’s cycling team, these students gain firsthand experience of serious training, which helps them define their aspirations and reinforce their commitment to pursuing cycling.

Since its launch in 2024, the training program has begun to showcase measurable success, with participants achieving personal bests and winning accolades in national competitions. Notably, several graduates have transitioned into university cycling teams or set their sights on becoming professional keirin riders—thus demonstrating the program's effectiveness as a bridge for young cyclists wishing to extend their careers after high school. Among the major destinations for graduates in 2026 include the Japan Keirin School, Nippon University, Chuo University, and Kanoya Sports University.
