USSFCU Appoints Don DiMatteo as Chief Lending Officer to Drive Strategic Growth

USSFCU Welcomes Don DiMatteo as Chief Lending Officer

The United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) is excited to announce the appointment of Don DiMatteo as its new Chief Lending Officer (CLO). This strategic leadership change is expected to enhance the credit union's lending operations and expand its member-focused services. With an impressive background in the financial sector, DiMatteo has over 35 years of lending expertise, making him a valuable asset for USSFCU as it continues to grow and evolve in the financial landscape.

DiMatteo's career has significantly shaped the institutions he has served. He spent 17.5 years at Wells Fargo, overseeing various retail branches and lending operations. Following this role, he dedicated nearly two decades to the State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU), where he held the position of Senior Vice President of Lending. His tenure at SDFCU was marked by substantial growth, increasing the institution's assets from $700 million to over $2.8 billion. This achievement was largely attributed to DiMatteo's innovative approach to expanding lending programs and enhancing member engagement through financial education.

In addition to his operational accomplishments, DiMatteo is recognized as a leader within the credit union industry. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Managers Association (MACUMA) and frequently shares his knowledge as a speaker at national conferences, such as those organized by NAFCU and America's Credit Unions. His commitment to mentoring young professionals in the industry has been acknowledged with numerous awards, including CUES Exceptional Leader of the Year and Corporate Leader in Personnel Development at Wells Fargo.

USSFCU President and CEO Timothy Anderson praised DiMatteo, stating, "Don is a visionary in the lending space who has spent his career driving financial growth, fostering collaboration, and empowering members to achieve their financial goals." Anderson highlighted DiMatteo’s wealth of experience and dedication to financial education as key factors that make him the ideal choice for USSFCU as it seeks to enhance its lending services.

DiMatteo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, focused on Management and Marketing, from Towson University. He has also pursued various professional development opportunities, completing programs at NAFCU's Management Leadership Institute at Duke University, the CUES School of High Performance, and the CUES School of Applied Strategic Management, where he earned the Certified Strategic Executive (CSE) designation.

Beyond his professional life, DiMatteo contributes significantly to his community. He is an active sports official, officiating high school basketball, volleyball, and softball, and invests time in various youth sports and educational initiatives.

In his new role as Chief Lending Officer, DiMatteo will oversee USSFCU's lending portfolio and drive strategic initiatives that align with the credit union's mission of providing excellent financial services to its members.

As USSFCU marks nearly 90 years of service to the Senate community and beyond, it remains committed to offering exceptional member services and competitive financial products. With Don DiMatteo's leadership in the lending department, USSFCU is poised for continued success and innovation in the financial industry.

We warmly welcome Don DiMatteo to the USSFCU family and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our lending practices and member service initiatives.
